Job Purpose:

 

  • ScotiaBank is embarking on a major initiative to modernize end to end Payments technology and processes.  The end result of the modernization program will enable the bank to offer enrich information and transparencies to support the rapidly evolving payments community.
  • This position requires a proven leader to manage development resources, technical deliverables and stakeholder relationships.  
  • The incumbert must be technologically wellrounded with experiences operating strategy to modernize legacy environment
  • The incumbent will also be responsible for project financials management, career development, performance evaluation and capacity management

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

Lab Responsibilities:

  • Be at the forefront of technology and enable the Lab to be a highly functioning technology power house that enables transformation.
  • Provides thought leadership, innovative ideas, and drives toward partnership at the table. Serves as a steward of Lab culture / environment and engineering practices.
  • Drives partnerships with key stakeholders (business partners, payments team, PMO, Product Owners, etc.)
  • Actively partners with other Lab Leaders and Scrum Masters to ensure resources, scope, lessons learned, etc. are shared and appropriately integrated.
  • Provides leadership over large or complex initiatives.
  • Manage the overall Payments Modernization Portfolio intake process, roadmap and vision.
  • Defines Lab metrics at the portfolio, application, and team levels by leveraging agile metrics and practices.
  • Identifies and manages risks, opportunities, compliance issues or other lab concerns.

 

Leadership

  • Creates structures and processes that promote an environment of innovation and experimentation for direct reports, peer groups and leaders.
  • Is a technology thought leader. Responsible for implementation of strategy including high level planning of work and resources across multi-year timeframe.
  • Defines and communicates strategy to the organization so they understand their roles, are motivated to achieve established goals and have line of the sight.
  • Applies knowledge and efforts to diverse and complex situations, to drive business solutions.
  • Change agent and foster a culture of embrasing and initiating changes for continous improvement.

  

People Management

  • Creates and leads change across multiple organizations; catalyst for employees and peers in implementing change.
  • Models and creates an environment of accountability for peer groups and senior leaders by setting clear performance objectives in support of business outcomes.
  • Coaches and continually motivates the teams actively; drives high levels of performance
  • Accountable for creation of environment of open communication and innovation within the Lab.

 

Functional Competencies:

 

  • Proven record of transformation leadership
  • Prior knowledge of agile methodology an asset.

 

Education/Work Experience:

 

  • Minimum of 5 year’s financial development experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a technical leadership role
  • Minimum of 3 year’s people leadership
  • University degree in an IT related discipline – a technical background is required to understand the many facets of application management and integration complexities:  
  • Computer Engineering or Computer Science Degree preferred.
  • University or college or equivalent work experience.
  • Scrum Master Certification an asset
