The team:

Scotiabank’s Global Technology Services (GTS) - Operations and Engineering, Tools & Monitoring is responsible for the deployment, maintenance and support of the bank’s application and infrastructure monitoring and workload scheduling products.  The Tools & Monitoring Workload Automation Team focuses on mainframe and Mid-Tier batch job scheduling products - developing and communicating standards to govern and ensure alignment with the bank’s and industry best practices.

 

The role:

You will play a critical part in proactively partnering with business line representatives to drive improved technology solutions that support business strategies.  You will provide oversight over project intake and the designs/proposals put forward.  You also push for opportunities for cost reduction & develop Infrastructure strategy and validate that the solution architecture complies with the application architecture/roadmap.

 

When required, this role will provide 24x7 extended after hours support for engagement in real-time troubleshooting/resolution of P1/Major incidents, software upgrades, patches, installs, configuration updates to application and/or infrastructure components.

  • You take the initiative to lead the resolution of production problems that are Workload Automation related.
  • You excel in supporting and enhancing the Workload Automation system as required to support the implementation of new business applications and technology.
  • Consult with the development teams on large projects to provide Workload Automation services, ensuring the adoption of DevOps, AI Ops, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in deployment, Continuous Integration (CI) configuration etc.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • You can demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • You have at least 5+ years of hands-on technical working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting of Mid-Tier Workload Automation Tools, such as Control-M and/or Tidal and/or Autosys.
  • You have at least 5+ years of hands-on technical working experience in installing, configuring and troubleshooting of Mainframe Workload Automation Tool, such as Control-M and/or CA7.
  • You have at least 5+ years of technical working knowledge of the nuances involved in various operating system environments (Windows, Linux, AIX, Solaris), Application Server (WebSphere, Tomcat) and database (DB2, Oracle, MS SQL Server, NoSQL, PostgreSQL).
  • You have at least 5+ years of technical working knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, DNS, and firewall protocols.
  • You possess a strong technical background to adapt & deal with new and traditional technologies in the various platforms.
  • You possess excellent analytical conceptual skills at a level to provide input of value to project plans and design solutions.
  • You also possess the ability to quickly learn mainframe host system tools, processes and job control language (JCL).
  • You must have a completed post-secondary education in Computer Science or Math or Engineering disciplines.
