Job Purpose

 

Reporting to the Head of the Strategic Portfolio Office, Canadian Banking Technology (CBT), Director Project Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial planning, reporting and analysis of the operating expenses for all areas within Canadian Banking Technology.  The Director of the team is responsible for providing financial advice and support to the Senior Vice President and CIO, while setting the strategic and operational direction for the supporting Project Finance Team. 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

Stakeholder Relationship Management

  • Develop and sustain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, including Canadian Banking Technology executives, to enable them to deliver on their mandates effectively and efficiently.
  • Act as a change agent, lead and communicate the Global Finance expense management mandate to key partners and stakeholders.
  • Providing analysis and support to enable leadership to make informed decisions pertaining to the impact of budget planning, forecasting and potential cost reduction activities.
  • Management of the business’ operations which have a financial impact (i.e. Platform Modernization, Risk and Stability initiatives as part of foundational investments for CBT).

 

Canadian Banking Technology Budgets & Reporting

  • Lead and oversee the expense management process.
  • Activities include: planning, forecasting, reporting & analysis, testing for reasonability and reporting of actual spending against budgets on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Oversee reporting, analysis and commentary for Canadian Banking Technology on quarterly results and variances for inclusion in the Quarterly Financials.
  • Develop and provide governance over the standard for Support group allocations and simplify methodologies and processes to obtain key information without creating complexity.

  • Develop and execute meaningful employee development plans.
  • Recognizing team development needs and taking an active role in addressing gaps; exhibiting self-awareness around one’s own impact on the team and when necessary, adjusting leadership and motivational qualities to maximize team performance.
  • Facilitating a results and customer focused culture with strong performance orientation and open communication; encouraging the generation of new ideas and approaches.
  • Integrate ViewPoint survey to continually improve and leverage team performance and satisfaction.

  • Possess strong leadership and collaboration skills,
  • Excellent oral and written communication proficiency and strong planning ability and management orientation.
  • Strong and efficient in conflict management.
  • Ability to champion change, inspire a shared vision and promote key values driving urgency and execution.

 

Education/ Experience

 

  • University degree in Business or related discipline.
  • Completion of CPA would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 10+ years’ experience in Financial Services and Project Finance, including a minimum of five years of leadership.
