The Team
Scotiabank’s Information Security & Control (IS&C)’s Advisory Services is responsible for providing advisory services to Global Technology Services enabling the achievement of the Bank's Information Security.

 

The Role
The Director, Global Technology Services (GTS) CISO provides guidance to business lines to ensure design, development and implementation of projects and initiatives are in accordance with the Bank's Information Security Standards and in compliance with industry regulations.  The role will manage a team of Advisors assisting business functions in making informed decisions to protect information assets.

 

Is this role right for you?
The Director, GTS CISO is the focal point for ensuring GTS has support for the following areas:

  • Driving IS&C related initiatives within GTS; or GTS initiatives having significant security impact to the organization.  
  • Ensuring GTS leadership is aware of KRIs and KPIs through consistent reporting and driving remediation of KRI and KPI’s that require attention.
  • To interface with business lines, GTS teams and information security to provide solutions that meet the requirements of all three areas.
  • Provide strategic direction and consulting to support GTS goals and initiatives while ensuring information security requirements are met.
  • Keeping knowledgeable of GTS products and services; and security features which can be used to further improve the cyber resiliency of the bank. In particular a focus on Microsoft technology (Cloud, End User Computing).
  • Understanding communications channels and working with other areas of the bank to respond to GTS Security related inquiries.
  • Keeping aware of market changes and new products and services which could benefit GTS offerings (such as advancements in collaborative and end user technologies).
  • Representing GTS requirements and needs at IS&C forums and through research initiatives.
  • Developing an advisory practice for ensuring currency of Security Design Documents, Threat Risk Assessment residual risk management and ensuring documented RA’s are being managed and tracked (related to IS&C).

  
Working location:

The incumbent will be situated at 888 Birchmount Road, 6th Floor Scarborough Ontario and will be required to participate in off-hours operational issues. It is anticipated that 5 hours per month will be required for off-hours operational management.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed?
The incumbent will be accountable for the ongoing support (consulting), leadership and management of the following:

  • Develop reports and consulting advice to address deficiencies within GTS (such as SRI remediation, deep dives into specific security issues)
  • Provide operational oversight of third-party suppliers for IS&C (ensure GTS suppliers meet IS&C requirements)
  • Liaise with internal partners and stakeholders to ensure changes from IS&C policies do not have adverse impacts on GTS products and services.
  • Highlight Cyber Security gaps within GTS that could cause significant operational harm.
  • Co-ordinate development meetings to ensure currency roadmaps and changes to GTS products and services do not have a negative impact to the bank.
  • Monitor Service Level Agreements and report on gaps which can arise in service delivery of IS&C products and services.
  • Participate in major incidents which can have a direct or indirect impact on GTS products and services.

     

Education/Skills requirements:

  • 5 to 10 years of direct IT experience in an operational role.
  • 2 to 5 years of direct IT project management experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of IT management experience.
  • Security certifications such as CISSP, CISA are preferred but not required.
  • Professional certifications or memberships in an IT field are desired.
