Global Technology Services Enterprise Cloud & Computer Operations Group (GTS-ECCO) provides technology solutions and platforms supporting Global Banking & Markets (GBM), Global Risk Management (GRM), as well as Canadian & International Banking.  We serve 21 million customers across 55 countries and almost 87,000 employees.

 

Located in Toronto & reporting to the Senior Project Leader, the Intermediate Technical Analyst is the Backup System Administrator on the L1 Backup team and is responsible for the hands on technical support of our large enterprise managed services customers. Day to day responsibilities will include the administration of our enterprise data protection, disaster recovery, archive and backup storage environments.

 

The Intermediate Technical Analyst will be a part of a 24x7 technical support team and will work in shifts (“6:00” a.m. – “2:00” p.m. or “2:00” p.m. – “10:00” p.m., 10:00PM to 6:00AM; in 24x7 support environment) on a rotational basis:.  Also expected to occasionally travel, when required for meetings to our other worksites at 185 West Mall (Etobicoke)/Scarborough IT campus at Eglinton Avenue East & Birchmount Road/300 Consolium.

 

What we are looking for?

 

  • Responsible for day to day operations of enterprise data protection, disaster recovery, archive and backup storage environments.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting simple to moderately complex connectivity issues between media servers and clients.
  • Provide shift-level support, as needed, for all local and global sites from North America to South America, Asia Pacific and Europe.
  • Configure and modify backup policies across all backup environments.
  • Provide 24x7 first-level troubleshooting for backup job failures.
  • Ensure all incidents are reported in an accurate and timely manner to management.
  • Work with Level 2 Backup Team, Business Owners and Application Development Teams to identify requirement and to provide and implement appropriate backup solutions following Scotiabank standards.
  • Work with the Service Team / Command Centre Team to provide constant monitoring and proper escalations to make sure all issues are handled.

 

Are you the right person for the role?

You Have;

 

  • 3+ years of technical working experience with supporting 24x7 IT systems in a multi-platform, multi-site, mission critical environments.
  • You are a strong communicator (verbal/written).
  • 3+ years of technical working knowledge of backup, disaster recovery and storage concepts.
  • 3+ years of technical working experience with enterprise data protection solutions, such as Veritas
  • NetBackup (6.x, 7.x and 8.x), IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM 6.x, 7.x) Dell EMC Avamar, CommVault Simpana.
  • You possess a good understanding of UNIX (Solaris)/Linux (Redhat) and Windows Operating systems (basic shell scripting/command line).
  • Experience with any ticketing system.
  • You possess solid organizational and time management skills.
  • You are adept at working independently on projects and duties without constant supervision
