Senior Manager, Business Intelligence / AML Operations / Dominican Republic GBS
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm / Saturdays 4 hours upon request
Purpose
Team Lead for the design, development and implementation of the AML Operations enhanced reporting package, which includes automated and ad-hoc divisional and local reports to track periodic performance, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. Responsible for the internal control functions of the unit, coordinating and managing the activities for the production and tracking of KPI’s, statistics for follow up, evaluation and impact analysis of the various strategic and operational objectives of the unit. Supports global and international banking strategic projects and initiatives.
Accountabilities
• Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Provide problem resolution and support senior management in the optimization of processes and systems to serve our clients better and more efficiently.
• Guarantee the update of the process documentation for the Caribbean AML Operations at GBS DR, according to the changes on AML Policies, regulations, and best practices implemented.[KS1.1][KC1.2][SM1.3]
• Ensure AML Ops objectives are met by leading the BI Team to:
• Calculate and track Key Performance Indicators for all the areas within the Unit.
• Compare data from various systems for consistency and work with team members to resolve any discrepancies.
• Prepare and distribute accurate reports in appropriate formats in a timely manner.
• Prepare required reports on key management information to various committees, country reporting and dashboard tools to the Director.
• The SME on reports, metrics, analytics and data, as well as the liaison with oversight [DM2.1][DM2.2]teams on required Business Intelligence topics:
• Work in alignment with oversight teams to fulfill Head Office reporting needs, including metric standardization.
• Responsible for the evaluation, design and implementation of Tools, with the support of key stakeholders.
• Responsible for the design, development and analysis of KPIs, metrics and key management information for decision making purposes.
• Reviews and maps data from diverse core collections applications (e.g. ScotiaGlobe, AS400, Master High Risk List, Oracle, EDL) for report design and generation.
• Build and maintain an effective data management process to acquire, clean, transform, store, and present data, verifying the accuracy of information as per original source.
• Ability to turn data into information, knowledge, and intelligence that's actionable and measurable.
• Consistently seeks continuous improvement opportunities in the Unit’s operations, key controls, automations, reporting, among others. [DM3.1]
• Responsible for the continuous improvements in key internal control functions of the unit.
• Seeking out automation opportunities to improve the unit’s ability to execute on key internal controls
• Enhance tracking and reporting on case management flows to management.
• Acting on feedback to refine and improve dashboards and reports to drive greater visibility of key issues to management.
• Lead BI and Automation initiatives impacting International Banking EDDUs in coordination with Global AML Ops Strategy, Design & Sustainment, EDDU Heads and their corresponding MIS Teams.
• Identify best practices and replicate them across the various teams.
• Comprehensive understanding of the Bank’s risk appetite, risk culture, processes and the impact of decisions on business performance, in day-to-day activities and decisions[DM4.1].
• Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
• Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Education/Experience
• Bachelor´s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration or related field of study.
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience in the financial services industry with focus on Risk Management, Compliance, or Operations.
• Understanding of SQL, data mapping, and similar programing software.
• Expert Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Power Point and Access)
• Profound knowledge of reporting, metrics, and analytics development. Proficiency in statistical analysis and methodologies to create forecasting.
• Very good negotiation and analytical skills
• Knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (AML/ATF) & Sanctions
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to manage complex interpersonal and organizational dynamics.[DM5.1]
• Bilingual (required) English/Spanish – Advanced Level.
• Organizational and motivational skills and the ability to prioritize/delegate and deal with a variety of complex tasks and situations on an ongoing basis.
• Coaching Skills – must be able to guide employees to solutions on areas of opportunities.
• Relational database and data mining tools i.e. ScotiaGlobe, Oracle, SQL,
• Business intelligence reporting tools such as Power BI.
• Project Management skills and related financial analyses to guide project decisions.
• Lean Six Sigma knowledge is a plus.
