Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:30am - 5:30pm / Saturdays 4 hours upon request


Purpose


Contributes to the overall success of the Non-Financial Risk GBS Dominican Republic and Colombia team ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. 

 

Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. Provide support the organizations mitigate risks arising from their internal operational processes. 

 

Accountabilities 

 

• Action Plans Monitoring: Conduct the track and monitor completion of action plans; providing guidance to business units on completion of action plans 
 


• Risk Appetite Framework (RAF) – Global Operations: support the development of the Global Operations RAF, including document updates, monitoring and update of RAF metrics.  


• Third Party Risk Management (TPRM) Tracking: track and report contract status, providing guidance to business units on completion of contracts and helping business with updating contracts on the system.   

 

• New initiative risk Assessment (NIRA): Support the manager on tracking and report status, providing guidance to business units to identify, assess, monitor and report significant operational risks ad control through the NIRA Methodology.

 

• Business Continuity Management Program (BCM):  Support the Manager in development, maintenance and testing of the Business Continuity Plan in accordance with the guidelines defined by ScotiaGBS and the Bank, to minimize the impact of incidents that affect the operation of ScotiaGBS in each of its verticals.

 

• Regulatory and Operational Risks: Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. 

 

• Operational Risk annual awareness program: support the Manager delivery of annual awareness program to assist the Risk Owners in understanding what types of operational risk their units could generate in their day-to-day activities.

 

• Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with the Global Operations business units and applicable support and control functions to remain current on new developments and emerging risks.


• Customer focused culture: Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

 

• Continuous Improvement: Contribute to a culture of constant improvement by analyzing existing procedures and proposing more efficient ways to obtain better results that add value to our customers and business. 

 

• Other Projects and Activities: provide additional support to other projects and activities that fall within the Operational Risk and/or Global Operations Governance mandate(s), as required.

 

• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

 

• Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Education / Experience 


• Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and negotiating skills 


• Strong written and verbal skills (must be able to prepare documentation and interact effectively with other Bank departments) 


• Good leadership and time-management skills 


• Thorough knowledge of Bank's regulations, policies, procedures, operations, and functions 


• Working knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of Global Operations business units and related business functions across Canadian & International Banking units including various delivery channels 


• Must maintain a current awareness of regulatory requirements and industry best practices in operational risk 


• Expert knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio 


• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Industrial Engineer, Accounting, Finance with a minimum of 2 years of relevant banking experience or operational risk management  


• Bilingual (Spanish / English).
