Schedule:


Monday to Friday 8:30 Am- 5:30 AM / 4 hours upon request On Saturdays.

 

 

Purpose

 

Supports/prepare/calculate and oversees Tax Compliance & Analysis at GBS DR ensuring accurate submission in time business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. 

 

Be a key employee in the Tax Department for compliance & Planning process including, Tax return, Annual & Quarter Tax Reports, Income Tax Provision, Budget, tax authority requirements, among other. 

 

Accountabilities 

 

•    Calculate, prepare and support revision of the regular tax returns and reports as ITBIS, Turn Over Tax, Withholdings, Annual Third-party reports, tax requirements, etc, according to the tax compliance of each entity.


•    Support to prepare and/or consolidate a monthly reporting packages that includes findings report, analysis of key business trends, tax impacts.


•    Prepare and support monthly and quarterly tax close analyzing tax impacts and needed activities of the Tax Department


•    Preparing and supporting monthly tax/analytical reports of findings to solve issues sharing them with the responsible areas.


•    Support annual tax area budget process and follow up.


•    Assist in preparing analysis, commentary and presentation material for the monthly and quarterly tax review meetings.


•    Be a Tax Partner to support areas and Business units for tax management and controls and procedures.


•    Supporting preparation of tax analysis and management reporting to Management Committee, Board of Directors, Corporate Stakeholders and Service Units


•    Preparing Comprehensive and creative documents to present to the board.


•    Constantly reviewing that Business tax requirements and driving ongoing development for the Tax functions in the companies


•    Understand how the Bank´s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. 


•    Creates an environment in which the tax team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank´s values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.


•    Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates tax team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vision/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.


•    Evaluate and generate the attestation of the reports and submit them to the regulators.


•    Identify, prioritize, analyze, remediate, and escalate (if necessary) any issues related to the regulatory reporting process.


Education / Experience / Other Information 

 

•    BA in accounting 
•    At least 5 years Tax/accounting/analysis experience, with proven aptitude in operational/finance analysis, tax calculations and analysis in a multinational company
•    Must have strong attention to detail.
•    Must have experience analyzing and preparing tax compliance and reports in a multinational company.
•    Must be able to manage and meet multiple simultaneous deadlines to multiple internal/external customers with fast turnaround times.
•    Must have strong analytical capabilities and ability to understand complex tax/accounting information – both the technical and theoretical aspects
•    Advanced Excel and Power Point Skills required. Prior experience with accounting systems
•    Must be able to clearly communicate analytical findings, orally and in writing.

•    English proficiency
