Purpose

 

The Manager, Merchant Acquiring Operations Governance and Support is responsible for implementing initiatives to enhance the Global Merchant Acquiring Operations Governance and Support. The incumbent will also be responsible for implementing improvements intended to reduce workloads and increase merchant services efficiency, contributing to the Bank's overall profitability. He/she will maintain ongoing business support for GTB Trade and Finance Operations and Merchant Acquiring Operations Governance and Support programs.


Accountabilities 


• Leads and drives a customer-focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
• Leads the operational support and enhances the GTB merchant business line by looking for favorable opportunities to improve customer service, reduce workloads, improve operational routines, and gain efficiency to increase the Bank’s overall profitability.
• Leads the design, implementation, and change management of merchant services operational support.
• Support the GTB Merchant Acquiring Operations Governance and Support by:
• Customer set-up, hardware programming, installation and user training, processing Merchant transaction authorizations, facilitate Merchant settlements, chargeback handling and dispute resolution, production of client statements, delivery of client service and fraud monitoring.
• Identify benefits, for presentation to Sr. Management for Merchant Acquiring Operations Governance and Support development in collaboration with GTB, GTB Merchant Services, GTB Operations, Merchant Services Units, Chargeback Teams and GTB Local Sales and Distribution teams.
• Support future initiatives of the merchant operation.
• Actively identify and participate with recommendations/ideas for process and system improvements.
• Continually acquire and enhance knowledge of international banking business strategies and policies, risk management practices and methodologies, product offerings, financial markets, regulatory requirements, and rapidly changing technology to be able to provide effective operational solutions and support to the field.
• Contribute to the integration of Merchant Acquiring Operations functions into all Scotia Hub units and GTB initiatives.
• Providing recommendations to the Sr. Manager to improve the current Merchant Acquiring Operations function and workloads related to Merchant Support, chargeback handling, terminal Installation & merchant acquiring penalties.
• Lead the coordination and support for the Global Acquiring Governance Committees for Chargeback. 
• Coordinate with the appropriate levels of country and international management in the introduction of new products from processors, Penalties for Acquiring Operations and Value-Added Resellers (VARs) of processing in conjunction with the Merchant Acquiring Operations Governance and Support. Participate in the conversion of the Merchant Acquiring Operations Governance and Support functions into GTB.
• Exhibiting a passion for the merchant acquiring business and a thirst for innovative products and processes.
• Actively identifying and participating with recommendations / ideas for process and systems improvements.
• Provide guidance and training in response to a shift of future initiatives and provide ongoing support to teams regarding Merchant Acquiring Operations Governance and Support.
• Conducting regular country touch bases to solicit input and understand the Merchant Acquiring Operation needs as well as to determine the competitive landscape of merchant acquiring. Provide training and advise to staff in executing merchant service standards and support to our customers.

 

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role)


• Broad knowledge of the Bank’s International structure
• Thorough understanding of the Bank’s project methodology
• Expert understanding of Merchant Services
• Strong technical background for Point of Sale (POS) equipment Evolution of the Point of Sale (POS) applications requires
• Highly specialized knowledge and the ability to coordinate country Operational Hub units for training, production testing, problem resolution and product rollout.
• Thorough understanding of POS Acquiring transactional settlement and processing, reports, and services
• Thorough understanding of bank business processes and re-engineering practices
• Good understanding of the automated systems and areas responsible for those which support the branch network.
• Good understanding of the business needs of the service user/product community, and understanding of industry trends
