Purpose
The Director, Product Management, Global Transaction Banking - Caribbean provides strategic direction, profitability oversight, and management of Scotiabank’s portfolio of payment, collection, and reporting products across the Caribbean region. The ideal candidate is innovative, strategic, and passionate about optimizing client experience, implementing operational efficiencies, mitigating risk, and maximizing business value.
This role leads a team of regional cash management and product experts to establish execution priorities based on client interactions and market dynamics unique to the Caribbean, contributing to the overall success of the region in alignment with global and regional objectives for Global Transaction Banking.
Accountabilities
• Develops and executes new innovative strategies that expand the Payments & Receivables product portfolio into adjacent markets and new sectors, by identifying emerging industry trends, customer needs, key market segments, new geographies and developing technologies.
• Collaborate with CCA country teams to develop and execute strategic business plans for Global Transaction Banking products, ensuring alignment with regional priorities and growth objectives.
• Work closely with the Global Wires & Clearing team to implement local capabilities and initiatives for High Value Payments services, adapting global standards to meet local regulatory and operational requirements.
• Work closely with the Global Digital Channels team to implement regional channel enhancements and initiatives that improve the customer experience and distribute products in alignment with client channel preferences.
• Ensures focus on achieving the business value and enhancing functionality for payment products while also maintaining accountability ensuring product back-logs and delivery schedules are aligned to the strategic direction.
• Ensures that products are competitively positioned, profitability is maximized, and existing and future customer needs are met.
• Manages financial, regulatory and credit risks by recommending and implementing courses of action to mitigate any exposures to the Bank. Responsible for the full product management cycle, all marketing campaigns targeted to business markets within an assigned portfolio, field support and technical expertise.
• Responsible for delivering seamless end-to-end client experiences through effective stakeholder management and collaboration with Treasury Management Officers (TMO) and leading business process reviews aligned to key client sales opportunities.
• Contribute to the clients’ and GTB business goals by providing the right solution, that retains and increases the overall profitability of the client relationship while maintaining an acceptable level of risk.
• In close collaboration with TMOs and local sales teams, identify market trends that could drive new opportunities, prepare and deliver client pitches, structure and analyze new transactions.
• Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vision/values/business strategy; managing succession and development planning for the team.
• Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
Skills
• 10-15 years of experience in the development and management of banking products and portfolios
• In-depth understanding of the Caribbean payments marketplace and regulatory environment; government/payment
associations' political direction with knowledge of a wide range of business, regulatory, technical and political issues that are often multi-level and complex in nature.
• In-depth understanding of delivery networks of financial products and services within the context of the Bank's sales and service strategies across the various delivery channels.
• Fluent in Spanish and English
• Strong understanding of the effect that change or new products, systems and regulatory requirements will have on existing operations and client offerings.
• Strong decision making, forward-thinking and creative problem-solving skills to anticipate and respond quickly to technological/market influences. Make difficult decisions in pursuing the development of a well-conceptualized defined strategic agenda.
• Be results-oriented and innovative in identifying and pursuing opportunities to leverage capabilities to increase revenues, decrease costs and mitigate risks.
• Experience modifying preconfigured solutions to meet complex problems
• Demonstrated prior experience working in a highly matrixed and complex organization
• Experience in credit analysis, risk assessment, and structuring is beneficial
• Experience in contact negotiations with both clients and legal counsel
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Degree/postgraduate degree, preferably in business
