The Manager, Learning & Development is responsible for driving the assessment, execution and project management of U.S. learning to support the Global Banking and Markets and the Corporate Functions in the U.S. This role contributes to the creation and implementation of learning plans and solutions, ensuring alignment to business strategy and global learning standards and practices. With dual reporting to the GBM Senior Manager, Learning and the VP, U.S. Head of Human Resources, this role consults with US HR Business Partners, subject matter experts, and Learning COE to implement tailored learning solutions to further the strategic goals of the U.S. business.

 

 

 

Is this role right for you? You will be responsible for:

 

 

 

  • Championing a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Implementing recommendations on program execution and design from GBM Senior Manager, Learning, Business leaders, HR Business Partners, and COEs.
  • Managing end to end project management, delivery, maintenance and measurement of U.S. learning courses in the global Learning Management System (LMS). 
  • Overseeing and directly managing annual and ongoing U.S. regulatory and compliance learning in the LMS working closely with subject matter experts and business stakeholders.
  • Participating and representing HR/Learning in the strategic business plan development and ongoing business meetings/decisions with business line leaders.
  • Consulting with business to assess learning needs and identify learning solutions to meet business objectives. Contributing to or leading the creation and execution of learning programs to address specific business needs.
  • Leading and facilitating U.S. Learning Council to ensure proper U.S. learning governance.
  • Partnering closely with Learning COE and HR to ensure alignment with standards, practices, and processes.  
  • Collaborating with HR Services to ensure successful deployment of learning programs. Providing support for escalated cases from HR Services.
  • Building internal and external networks to learn training industry trends and best practices.
  • Understanding how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursuing effective and efficient operations within their respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

  • Post-secondary Degree in Human Resources or Business or related field
  • Degree, certificate or designation in adult learning is an asset
  • Relevant experience in developing and executing learning solutions in a large complex corporate environment
  • Client-focused orientation
  • Advanced communications skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills  
  • Strong project management, prioritization and time management skills
  • Ability to deal effectively with different levels of the organization
  • Results oriented and able to effectively execute in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of and/or experience working within U.S. financial industry or with U.S. compliance or regulatory projects is an asset
  • Business acumen and understanding to allow appropriate partnership with client groups
