Title:  Senior Manager, Fixed Income Product Control (US)

Contributes to the overall success of the New York Product Control department in the U.S. ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. 


Act as main liaison to the Front Office and other operating units for daily operational issues, new business initiatives, system enhancements and valuation issues.   Play an active role in ensuring that business goals are aligned and operate efficiently within regional regulatory frameworks and Scotia’s finance, risk control, and governance policies.  Validate pricing of trading securities by utilizing independent valuation sources.  Ensure that daily and month-end accounting entries and reconciliations are validated and performed accurately and completely.  Respond to Front Office, other operational units, and internal and external regulatory reporting for additional requests.   Analyze and assess the impact to existing processes and to streamline activities whenever possible.   Be an active participant in the broader initiatives with the business lines.




Is this role right for you? You will be responsible for:




  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Provide oversight, direction and guidance to staff producing daily P&L and attribution reports for Front Office and financial reporting purposes.  This includes technical conversations with Traders on P&L impact of risk drivers.
  • Ensure agreement of the reported P&L to sub-ledger and general ledger.  Oversee teams managing the month-end accounting process including balance sheet substantiation.
  • Calculate required valuation reserves and perform Independent Price Verification for the NY Fixed Income Business.
  • Address all accounting/general ledger issues and ensure month-end close process is completed.
  • Act as the point of contact for all Front Office queries and issues and effectively monitor, track, and complete tasks in a timely fashion.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Experience in a Capital Markets Trading environment with Fixed Income product knowledge.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong Excel skills required.
  • Prior people management skills
  • 6-10 years of relevant experience
  • B.S. in a quantitative/Accounting/Finance degree. Degrees in other disciplines will be considered provided there is relevant experience.
