TITLE: Senior Manager, FP&A Forecasting Lead

DUTIES: The Bank of Nova Scotia seeks Senior Manager, FP&A Forecasting Lead in New York, NY to manage complete forecasting process on behalf of Global Banking & Markets U.S. business, which encompasses all Profit & Loss, balance sheet, and capital components, across all material sub-business lines and legal entities in the U.S. Manage delivery of accurate and timely forecast information to key U.S. & Global stakeholders and developing a robust operating model to ensure forecasts are updated in a timely and controlled fashion. Develop a robust, scalable process to source all relevant forecast information for the purposes of providing a complete, consolidated financial forecast to key U.S. and Global stakeholders. Critically review and challenge assumptions underpinning the forecasts, and overall submissions by the lines of business. Identify incremental data requirements based on CDE and data linage reviews, to ensure forecast information provided is complete and accurate. Develop capabilities to enable aggregation and elimination of financial data between IFRS and US GAAP reporting as necessary. Review and analyze financial data provided as part of the process, to identify issues, opportunities, and trends to enrich the consolidated forecast narrative, including results of regression analysis run by line of business. Support the continued alignment of data architecture and IT infrastructure between risk and finance support functions. Lead the development, maintenance and enhancement of various management reports and analysis for senior management to enable review and challenge of forecast submissions. Develop enhanced levels of insights and analytical capabilities to enable efficient and accurate decision-making by key stakeholders. Incorporate an awareness of enterprise strategic initiatives and the impact on revenues, balance sheet, and structural costs. Manage the formulation of performance metrics (ROE, RoRWA, ROA) in support of project Business Cases (including NIRAs), giving due consideration as to costs/benefits, and scenario analysis when required. Develop strong relationships across the various business and support functions to enable the provision of timely and accurate forecast information. Act as the primary point of contact for all business line queries related to P&L, balance sheet and capital projections. 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Accountancy, Finance, Economics, or a related field and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation: managing financial planning and analysis activities within Financial Services sector; utilizing experience with relationships between business lines and legal entities in large scale, complex organizations; utilizing experience with forecasting of revenues, expenses, balance sheet, and resources across business lines and legal entities; reviewing Business Case submissions, including cost vs benefit analysis, and analysis of risk-adjusted returns; preparing and presenting analysis, variance, commentary and management information to senior management for enhanced insights and to enable accurate and timely decision-making; developing & deploying experience with commercial banking and capital markets products, and their relationships to central utility functions, including treasury; working with Hyperion planning tools, Essbase, Power BI and Anaplan, and finance and accounting department toolsets; and liaising with internal and external stakeholders. CPA or CFA required. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies. When not telecommuting, must report to work site. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master’s degree in one of the above-listed fields and five (5) years of experience in the above-listed skills.
