Manager, U.S. Operational and Data Risk, U.S. Risk Management - New York
Purpose
The candidate will be responsible for implementing and ongoing execution of the U.S. Operational and Data Risk Management Framework. The framework encompasses the key components of Enterprise Risk Management, including, but not limited to, Risk and Control Self Assessments (“RCSAs”), Risk identification, Operational Risk Events, Key Risk Indicators (“KRIs”), Non-Financial Risk Management Committee, and ongoing reporting and monitoring.
As a member of the second line of defense for Operational and Data Risk in the U.S., the candidate will be responsible for reporting Operational and Data Risk and covering second line of defense responsibilities for Data Risk in collaboration with the team's Senior Managers and Director.
The incumbent will automate and develop analytics for Operational and Data Risk to build insights using available operational risk data, such as Operational Risk Events.
As the function evolves, the scope may expand to include other activities under Operational and Data Risks.
Accountabilities
- Monthly Operational and Data Risk Reporting.
- Automation of manual reporting where possible, such as KRI management.
- Support data risk second line of defense responsibilities for the U.S. operations (starting with Corporate Functions).
- Provide support for the timely escalation of review findings and reporting on status of remediation. This includes accountability of reporting to senior management and committees on Operational and Data Risks.
- Support the team in executing ORM activities such as New Initiatives assessment, KRIs, Issue and Action plan management, Risk Assessments, Scenario Analysis, and Operational Risk Events, and reporting key outcomes.
- Support the Director with special projects, continuous improvement initiatives, and ad hoc reporting.
Dimensions
- Cross-functional and product understanding of Corporate and Investment Banking and Markets.
- Experience in project management.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills; ability to partner across functional/divisional lines in the U.S. and Canada.
- Ability to work with large amounts of data and use technical skills to build visualization and insights, such as PowerBI, Tableau, Excel charts, Pivot tables, SQL, etc.
Education & Experience
- A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in an enterprise risk, reporting or risk role at a financial institution.
- Working knowledge of Capital Markets and current regulatory environment in the Financial Services industry.
- A university degree in business, related field, or equivalent experience. Advanced degree preferred.
- Strong communications, analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Expert in MSOffice (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other related productivity tools; ability to code/script is a plus.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbal and written with all levels including business units, Corporate Functions, Internal Auditors, management, and regulators.
- A strong team player who is open to listening and learning, demonstrating a growth mindset.
- Ability to work independently within minimal supervision.
Working Conditions
Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. The workload is demanding, subject to frequent time pressure with a steady flow of project delivery commitments, both internal and external, which carry specific deadlines. Workload is subject to continual prioritization due to changes of incoming requests from regulators, internal departments.
