Purpose

 

Performs regulatory reporting quality control for GBM U.S. Finance ensuring specific goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. 

 

The Manager, Regulatory Reporting Projects reports to the Senior Manager, Regulatory Reporting Projects and is responsible for the design and implementation of both tactical and strategic initiatives that improve the quality of regulatory reporting.  

 

The individual is responsible to review, analyze and prioritize resolution of issues and monitor their resolution through system project build, testing, and implementation. 
 

 

What You’ll Do

 

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Design and implement regulatory reporting systems.   
  • Understand data at its source and the corresponding general ledger and data warehouse relationships.
  • Prepare business requirements and functional specifications to support Finance regulatory reporting system change initiatives. Ensure they are reasonably sufficient and adequate in content, structure, and logic to provide application developers the necessary technical information to design, build and configure Axiom.  
  • Manage all phases of testing, and underlying reconciliation to source data.
  • Review system data flows and be able to identify issues and offer solutions.
  • Work closely with Data Group Office to identify, and document data quality issues and offer solutions.
  • Develop and implement interim solutions to address regulatory reporting issues.
  • Review regulatory reporting reports against risk reporting (inter-report reconciliation) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness among other factors.   
  • Identify, analyze, and prioritize internal control issues that result in reporting weakness; conduct analysis of Axiom related issues to assess risk and determine root cause. 
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

What You’ll Bring

 

  • MBA or MS in Finance, Risk or Computer Science
  • 10+ years of verifiable progressive experience of problem solving of financial information. 
  • Understanding of business risks and internal controls. 
  • Knowledge of objectives and content of U.S. regulatory reporting. 
  • Ability to develop strong relationships and to gain the confidence of stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated results in unstructured situations. 
  • Familiar with Axiom application development life cycle methodologies. 
  • Experience in assessing and escalating sensitive issues, preform root cause analysis, and develop tactical and strategic preventive measures. 
  • Solid understanding of overall banking business and capital markets products. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate objectives and document results.
