Scotiabank is currently seeking a Manager, Operational Control to join our growing team! This role contributes to the overall success of the GWO US Operations Management Department in the U.S. ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives for the Operational Control 1B team are delivered.  In this role you will be working with the Director of Operational Control and liaising with Operations managers to make sure all activities are conducted in compliance with the control environment. This role will manage the Operational Control group in the U.S. focusing on operational risks and controls, incident reporting, regulatory reporting for operations, MIS reporting, strategic planning and initiative management, policies and procedures governance, managing internal and external audits, etc. If you are looking to join a passionate and hard working team, apply today!


Is this role right for you? You will be responsible for:


  • Developing and performing Controls on the Operations teams 
  • Working with Operations managers to provide clear narratives and root cause analysis on Risk Issue and Incidents. Coordinate gathering of evidence and challenge Action Plans within agreed delivery dates.
  • Working with Operations and IT resources to help develop a Balanced Scorecard for U.S. businesses
  • Enhancing and maintain procedures database
  • Working with Operations Managers and ORO as enhanced Control Environment requirements are rolled out
  • Coordinating resources with Operations Managers and ORO to deliver Operations Risk Assessments and Scenario Analysis.
  • Managing relationships with colleagues in Finance, Compliance and Operational Risk.


Do you have the skills you need to succeed? We'd love to work with you, if you have:


  • Experience of 3-5 years in a risk role in Capital Markets
  • Strong knowledge of the various capital markets businesses from front to back
  • Self-starter with good initiative and strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of Power BI is helpful but not required.
  • Business degree or equivalent
  • Series 99 registration (existing license can be transferred, or exam must be successfully completed in 6 months).
  • Knowledge of Broadridge processing systems is helpful.
  • Knowledge of FINRA Broker-Dealer rules is helpful.
