Title:  Lead Developer

The successful candidate will act as lead developer for Prime Services Data Interface (PSDI) platform (central operational data store and data warehouse for the Prime Services transaction processing systems). This involves working with business stake holders in developing and designing solutions and hands on development responsibilities. This role will provide the candidate with extensive opportunity to interact directly with other stakeholders in Toronto and NYC



Work as a lead for Prime Service Data Interface (PSDI) team with strong sense of ownership for system stability and capacity. Candidate will have responsibility for line management of the developers in the team and will be responsible for deliveries of new functionality, enhancements to systems on behalf of the team. This role requires strong technical and dev ops skills and will require candidate to have hands on development responsibilities. Candidate will also act as lead in making architecture decision and will be involved in designing of new system functionality and features. Candidate will be required to interact with other teams such as Product Development group, Quality Assurance team, support team and other internal Scotia teams in executing and delivering projects.


Education and Work Experience



  • 10-15 years of experience in financial industry (capital markets)
  • Experience with Prime Services a plus
  • Technology Skills:  Java, J2EE (Servlets, JDBC, EJB, JSP, JMS), JavaScript, Webservice, Spring framework, XML, PL/SQL, Perl, Python, Unix scripting, Tomcat/Weblogic, Version control, Release management tools
  • Must have knowledge of using SQL on databases such as Oracle, Sybase etc.
  • Knowledge of Angular JS is a strong plus
  • Hands on experience in networking security, databases and Linux systems
  • Understanding of Software design and software development lifecycle.
  • Knowledge in various scripting languages, system & server administration
  • Wide knowledge in operating system administration, programing languages, CI/CD deployment and networking protocols
  • Experienced with some of these tools (GIT,Bitbucket,JIRA,Jenkins,Gradle,Splunk)
  • Good communication skills and ability to work directly with others
  • Strong sense of ownership for system stability and capacity.
  • Past experience with system ownership a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is preferred
