Global Banking and Markets provides a full range of credit, risk management and investment banking products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. Our products include investment banking, mergers & acquisitions, corporate banking, institutional equity sales, trading and research, debt products, derivatives, foreign currencies and commodities. We also cross-sell the full range of wholesale products and services offered by Scotiabank. In this role, you will play a key role in financial analysis and reporting for the office of the COO. 


Is this role right for you?  In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Develop and maintain financial forecasts and budgets (monthly, quarterly, annually) 
  • Assist in the month end close process, analyze and investigate actual performance vs. budget, prior year, and/or current forecast as needed
  • Perform monthly financial reporting, including variance analysis and reconciliations
  • Proactively explore and implement ways to improve the accuracy and efficiency of existing processes
  • Preparation of Senior Management presentations / meetings 
  • Produce various business/financial reports and dashboard
  • Support ad-hoc business analysis requests from leadership team and key stakeholders
  • Work effectively as an individual and as part of a team across a variety of strategic projects


Do you have the skills you need to succeed? We'd love to work with you, if you have:

  • An Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Business, Science, Technology, Engineering, Economics or Mathematics discipline 
  • Excellent Excel skills, technically savvy and experienced in analyzing large data files
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Strong data reporting experience
  • The ability to multitask in a fast-paced corporate environment
  • Flexible, organized, and be extremely detail oriented
  • Demonstrate sense of urgency in meeting challenging deadlines and achieving goals
  • The ability to work in teams with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • The willingness to fill-in for others in the group
  • Tolerance and understanding across multiple cultures
  • Previous relevant experience working in financial services or management consulting (preferred)
  • Experience with Oracle/Hyperion financial applications
