Purpose:

 

The principal purpose of this position is to support the Head, U.S. Taxation in providing US tax advice, tax risk governance, tax planning, and ongoing tax developments impacting the various business groups at the Bank. The role will also involve working with the VP, Global Banking & Markets Taxation and Transfer Pricing, particularly in the area of US tax operational risk

 

 

What You’ll Do: 

 

  • Provide clear, timely, and accurate US tax analysis, risk assessment, and tax planning, consistent with the Bank’s reputational risk appetite. Monitor the developments of new capital markets or other business related strategies or structures.  This will include providing advice and support related to US tax operational risks associated with US tax information, withholding, and reporting rules. 
  • Support the transfer pricing team in EO Tax and assist in preparing responses to transfer pricing inquiries from US tax authorities
  • Develop relationships with other control functions in New York office, as well as the business lines and relevant head office personnel
  • Monitor changes to US tax law and administration, consider implications therefrom, and provide support regarding appropriate guidance and counsel to executives.
  • Review the ISDA tax language;
  • Review the 871(m) language on notes issuances and swaps;
  • Provide advice to the US Information Reporting and Withholding Tax team
  • Provide US tax analysis on Corporate Actions
  • Provide support with any special project that may arise that may require U.S. tax advice
     


What You’ll Bring:  

 

  • CPA or tax lawyer with a minimum of 10years’ experience in US Taxation, ideally with both private practice and industry background
  • Skills and experience commensurate with a Director/ Vice President/Managing Director role in Capital Markets.
  • Experience integrating and communicating US and international tax rules to complex structures, transactions and businesses.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee complex tax matters.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills
