TITLE: Director, Equity Research Analyst
 

DUTIES: Scotia Capital (USA), Inc. seeks Director, Equity Research Analyst in San Francisco, CA to lead the US technology vertical coverage by conducting in-depth industry analysis and research using industry and financial sources. Perform comprehensive financial statement analysis and create and maintain financial models. Provide investment recommendations on publicly traded companies. Write fundamental research publications with value-added perspectives and differentiated views. Deliver presentations to institutional clients and the internal sales and trading teams. Follow overall market news and evaluate market data to assess short and long-term trends. Collect, consolidate and interpret company and industry data. Develop and maintain connections with investor relations and management of companies under coverage group. Liaise with sales, trading and other areas of the firm within regulatory guidelines. Manage and mentor Research Associates and Associate Directors. Lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Create an environment in which his team pursues effective and efficient operations of his respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment. Communicate vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or a related field and nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or related occupation: liaising with and educating institutional investors about the technology sector including cybersecurity, infrastructure, and applications software; making buy, sell, and hold recommendations to investors on securities within publicly traded and private companies in the software sector; creating and updating working financial models of macro dynamics and companies under coverage in the software space; providing financial forecasts of investors’ future earnings and cash flow profiles, helping investors determine what the equity value; developing and maintaining relationships with corporate management teams to gain insights into management decisions and provide investment opinions on stock. The salary offered is between $300,000 and $300,000 per year, 40 hours per week. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority General Securities Representative Exam required. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority 1-87 Research Analyst Part II required. North American Securities Administrators Association 1-63 Uniform State Law Examination required. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) Exam required. 15% of time spent travelling nationally and internationally.
