Analyst, LATAM Power & Infrastructure Finance

Scotiabank's Global Banking & Markets has a unique opportunity for an Analyst to join its Latin American Power and Infrastructure Finance team in New York City.

This position will appeal to outgoing and self-motivated individuals with a strong desire to work and learn in a challenging and fast paced environment. The successful applicant will work primarily with the Power and Infrastructure Finance LatAm team and will have significant exposure to various areas such as Corporate Banking, Capital Markets, and Syndication groups among others. In this fast-paced environment, it will be important to balance multiple priorities and responsibilities while meeting prompt deadlines.

  • Contribute to all aspects of the transaction process, including pitch phase, business analysis, financial model analysis, due diligence, credit proves, coordination between working groups, and execution for deals across Latin America and the Caribbean
  • Assist in the assessment of new opportunities by conducting industry specific research and creating client proposal presentations and marketing materials
  • Support the team on various aspects of debt financing origination, structuring, project finance, acquisition finance, syndication, and debt capital structure solutions
  • Work on internal task reporting, pipelines, presentation and similar
  • Establish relationships with Corporate Banking Units in Latin America and understanding each country's financial services market
  • Professional interaction with clients and internal personnel
  • Data analysis and data manipulation for generating research reports and presentations
  • Preparation of detailed client presentations

 Do you have the skills you need to succeed? We'd love to work with you, if you have:

  • Experience/exposure to Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, or similar
  • Experience in Project Finance and financial modeling experience through coursework, internships, work experience, or a combination
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Mathematics, Finance,  Business, Engineering,  Computer Science, or equivalent
  • Strong Excel, modeling and PowerPoint skills are necessary for the successful applicant
  • Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory
  •  
  • Excellent leadership capabilities and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Speaking, reading, and writing Spanish is a plus
  • Proven record of outstanding achievement in academic and extracurricular activities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to overcome challenges presented by a constantly changing work environment
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work
  • The ability to excel under pressure amid demanding deadlines
  • The ability to perform effectively in a team environment
  • High professional standards including a strong sense of personal integrity and teamwork
  • A high level of energy and a keen desire to learn new concepts
