Role Overview

The Associate will support execution across M&A, leveraged finance, and sponsor-backed transactions while contributing to relationship management for private equity clients in the Financial Sponsors Group. The role involves financial modeling, transaction structuring, due diligence, and preparation of client materials, while also helping develop Analysts and supporting senior bankers.

 

What You'll Do:

 

Support & Execution

  • Support Associate Directors, Directors and MDs in evaluating and executing leveraged finance and sponsor-backed transactions.
  • Analyze capital structures, financing terms, and market precedents to identify opportunities for clients.
  • Lead components of underwriting and approval processes, including transaction overviews, cash flow modeling, and syndication assessments.
  • Participate in due diligence sessions, assess credit risks, and review quality-of-earnings analyses.
  • Review financing documentation (commitment letters, fee letters, credit agreements, offering memoranda) and summarize key terms.

 

Financial Analysis & Materials Development

  • Build and maintain detailed financial models, with emphasis on LBO and cash flow modeling.
  • Prepare high‑quality pitch books and client materials, including new content for business development.
  • Track leveraged credit markets and create client‑friendly analyses of market conditions.

 

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Work closely with Analysts and Associate Directors to support senior coverage bankers.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to Analysts and junior talent across GBM.
  • Coordinate with internal partners across leveraged finance, ECM, credit/risk, underwriting, and sales & trading.

 

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards.
  • Contribute to a high‑performance, inclusive culture.

 

What You'll Bring:

  • 2+ years of investment banking experience, preferably at the associate level, ideally in financial sponsors or leveraged finance.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
  • Strong financial modeling skills, including LBO modeling and underwriting memo preparation.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. leveraged loan and high‑yield markets.
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • High attention to detail, adaptability, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required FINRA registrations.
