Overview

The Multinational Client Coverage model (MNC) is key to Scotiabank’s refreshed strategy, which entails the delivery of a differentiated and consistent client experience across our footprint, placing the client at the center of our service model, regardless of where they choose to do business. This supports Scotiabank’s vision to be our clients’ most trusted financial partner by delivering tailored solutions and deepening client relationships across the North America region and earn client primacy.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, fast-paced and dynamic team. In partnership with the Parent Account Manager (PAM; global relationship manager) and local product partners, the Subsidiary Account Manager will manage the relationship of the U.S. subsidiaries at the country/local level and support the PAM in developing and executing on the global account plans & service delivery in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 

 


What You'll Do

  • As single-point of contact in the U.S., primary responsibility of developing and managing fulsome local client relationships at the U.S. subsidiary level of our Multinational clients and closely collaborating with in-country product partners, as well as coordinating with other internal partners across our footprint.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leadership, country teams, and key internal stakeholders across Scotiabank’s business lines, in‑country and globally, to deliver the enhanced Multinationals value proposition to our clients.
  • Support Parent Account Managers (PAM) in developing holistic global account plans and executing multi-product and service delivery to grow the global relationship.
  • Manage junior Subsidiary Account Managers and Analyst/Associate pool located in the U.S.
  • Champion a client-centric culture and leverage Scotiabank’s global and in-country footprint, systems, and product knowledge to deliver tailored global and local solutions and grow revenue and primacy.  
  • Maintain good knowledge of Scotiabank's local and global platform, product capabilities, operational processes, risk appetite and risk culture to facilitate cross-product/cross-regional relationship management.
  • Stay keenly aware of the changing macro environment and regulatory landscape, and their impact on the industry and potential future opportunities.
  • This will play a key role in shaping and enhancing operating processes, clearly articulating the mandate across the U.S. Corporate Bank and global stakeholders, and contributing meaningfully to the broader strategy and long‑term vision of the platform.
  • Create an environment in which the team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
  • Build a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession planning for the team and development of junior team members.

 

What You’ll Bring 

  • Experienced relationship manager, ideally with global experience. 
  • Knowledge of all lending and non-lending products. 
    -    In-depth understanding of credit evaluation, structuring and process to facilitate prompt execution of  investment grade and leveraged lending transactions. 
    -    Knowledge of other non-lending products including: transaction banking, foreign exchange, risk solutions, project finance, debt and equity capital markets, private placement, securitization.
    Strong understanding of financial market, and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in Spanish or French is desirable, but not required. 
  • Strong marketing, negotiation, organizational skills. Positive, entrepreneurial and collaborative approach is a must
  • Experience managing and developing junior resources, demonstrating excellence in working effectively as an induvial and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong interest in liaising with colleagues across different jurisdictions and product groups, with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders across diverse geographies and operating environments.
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Business, Finance, Math, Engineering, Economics, Science or Technology.
  • Candidates may be considered at the Senior Associate Director or Director level depending on experience and scope of prior responsibilities.
