Role Overview

The Associate Director (Scotiabank’s equivalent of Vice President) will support execution across M&A, leveraged finance, and sponsor-backed transactions and managing client relationships within the Financial Sponsors Group. The role involves leading deal processes, mentoring junior bankers, and collaborating across product and industry teams to deliver integrated solutions.

 

 

What You'l Do:

 

  • Client Coverage & Execution
    • Support Managing Directors and Directors in coverage of private equity clients.
  • Lead underwriting and approval processes, including transaction overviews, cash flow modeling, and syndication assessments.
  • Lead due diligence sessions, assess credit risks, and review quality-of-earnings analyses.
  • Review financing documentation (commitment letters, fee letters, credit agreements, offering memoranda) and summarize key terms.
  • Coordinate multi-product pitches and strategic advisory efforts.
  • Team Leadership & Development
    • Supervise Analysts and Associates, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality deliverables.
    • Provide coaching and real-time feedback to support junior banker development.
    • Foster collaboration and engagement across teams.
  • Operational Excellence
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
    • Promote Scotiabank’s values and maintain high standards of conduct and risk management

 

What You'll Bring:

  • 3-5 years of investment banking experience, preferably at both the Associate and Vice President levels, ideally in financial sponsors or leveraged finance.
  • Experience leading client discussions and managing relationships, preferably in the private equity space.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • High integrity, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset.
  • FINRA registration and licensing (or ability to obtain and maintain).
