Overview

Part of Commercial Real Estate (CRE) Securitization Banking team focused on CMBS origination activity (conducted out of the United States), setting business strategies for origination / securitization / trading, and distribution of the CMBS product globally. This role will cover CMBS deal execution and ratings agency advisory. The CRE Finance group focuses on the U.S. commercial mortgage participants, including originators, servicers, REITS, asset managers and investors. Help plan and ensure initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 

What You’ll Do:

  • Help lead and drive a customer focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.  Acts as a role model for the team and an ambassador of the Bank’s values.
  • Part of a team of bankers within the CRE Securitization vertical of the Commercial Real Estate Finance (CREF) group at Scotiabank. 
  • The group lead is responsible for building out the commercial real estate securitization business and cultivating direct relationships for the bank, enabling Scotiabank to further source and develop opportunities. 
  • In addition to managing structuring/transaction managers, the group lead is also responsible for encouraging development of junior talent, providing a path to more senior CMBS transaction management opportunities.
  • Partners with REGAL Corporate Banking on business strategy, loan origination and client coverage efforts across commercial mortgage market participants.
  • Partners closely with structured products syndicate, sales, trading, and debt capital markets teams across the organization to help educate, develop, and advise clients on the CMBS market.   
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

 

 


What You’ll Bring

  • Licensing: SEI, S7, S79, S63
  • 8+ years experience in the commercial real estate securitization market
