Purpose
The Associate Director, USD Funding Desk - Short-Term Asset Management, will play a critical role within the USD Short-Term Funding Desk of the bank located in New York City, in the investment optimization decision of the short-term liquidity of the bank and the internal lending to Capital Markets activities. The role involves strong collaboration with stakeholders and supporting the desk on key initiatives.
What You'll Do

Responsible for managing the short-term investment position in USD. The responsibility consists in assessing the upcoming business cash in and outflows and project the cash and cash-equivalent position in USD, making decisions on how to deploy assets into cash, reverse repurchase agreements and other highly liquid assets, within liquidity and risk limits.

Be the key contact to GCM trading desks for USD short-term funding; provide funding cost and ticket funding in internal systems.

Be the main backup for pricing and trading the Bank’s unsecured and secured funding products, including Commercial Paper, Liberty Street -Program (ABCP) Yankee Certificate of Deposit.

Assist with the execution of other money market functions to support the Desk in its market-facing activities and adherence to local and all-Bank level regulatory requirement.

Lead desk operational efficiency initiatives. Collaborate with other internal stakeholders to find effective solutions to improve operations and inter-bank relationships. Keep abreast of new technologies to enhance operational workflow, booking systems.

Prepare market reports and ad-hoc presentations.

Maintain team’s daily blotter.

Coordinate with middle office, and back office to resolve ticket and booking issues.

Perform regular reporting and reconciliations to substantiate balance sheet positions, desk’s PnL.

Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

What You’ll Bring
- Experience in Money Market and Fixed Income, ideally for 5 to 10 years.
- Undergraduate degree or graduate degree in finance, economics or quantitative field.
- CFA, FRM or other financial designation preferred.
- FINRA Series required (or ability to obtain within 3 months): 7, 63.
- Programing or automating skills in a professional environment preferred [enhance and automate existing processes].
- Experience with Bloomberg.
- Strong analytical skills including extensive facility with PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau, SQL, Python.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work as a team member in a trading floor environment.
