Overview:

 

Relationship Management roles within Technology Corporate Banking are responsible for acquiring, orchestrating, and growing client relationships, consulting on and cross-selling the entire Scotiabank platform, and partnering with our Investment Banking and Capital Markets teams to address client business needs. Core responsibilities include new business development, expansion of existing relationships, and originating, advising on, and negotiating financing solutions for scaled private and public Technology Corporate Banking clients.

 

Position Highlights: 

 

As an Associate on our team, you will be responsible for assisting Managing Directors and Associate Directors with the origination of new clients, the relationship management of bank clients, the delivery of core banking products (i.e., debt financing, treasury management, foreign exchange, etc.), and broader Scotiabank financial services. As a member of one of the Bank's fastest-growing and most dynamic groups, you can expect numerous opportunities to demonstrate growth, initiative, and intellect.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

  • Champion a client centric culture focused on deepening client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge to deliver solutions that Scotiabank can provide across its footprint and generate revenue.
  • Relationship management and cross-collaboration includes:
    • Coordinating with the various product groups and industry team within GBM
    • Developing and maintaining effective industry relationships with clients
  • Provide day-to-day support, which includes:
    • Execute a range of corporate finance related tasks including: financial analysis, building and analyzing advanced financial models (including standalone, DCF, and LBO models) industry research, due diligence, etc.
    • Maintain and design internal materials (excel, PowerPoint) on the corporate finance, strategic investment and industry related trends for comparative analysis and presentation
    • Draft and prepare pitch books and marketing materials
    • Prepare internal documents, including deal committee memos and credit memos
    • Analyze, process, and execute credit requests
  • Develop recommendations for the appropriate course of action based on analysis, internal policies/procedures, and the Bank’s risk appetite 
  • Review loan documentation and update internal systems with pertinent transaction/facility details and conduct regular monitoring of credits/client relationships via annual and quarterly reviews
  • Provide day to day account management support for several client relationships
  • Expand on sector/industry and Bank product knowledge to identify trends and cross-selling opportunities within sector 
  • Assist with various ad-hoc tasks including conducting industry reviews, validating/providing internal compliance documentation, update internal reports for management 
  • Develop more junior bankers on their team and across CIB and GBM through active engagement on developing their skills (technical, coverage and other leadership skills) and providing real-time positive and constructive feedback to support their development 
  • Actively partner with group leaders and broader team to build team dynamics and engagement across teams
  • Actively contribute to a high performance and inclusive work environment

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Completed Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Math, Engineering, Economics, Science or Technology
  • 3-6 years of relevant experience within Corporate Banking or Corporate Finance in accounting firm is preferred.
  • Master’s degree, MBA, CFA, or other relevant professional designation/experience 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Financial modelling skills and accounting knowledge
  • Strong computer skills including the use of MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Superior organization skills
  • Maintain a professional approach in all client interactions
  • High attention to detail with a sense of urgency appropriate to the situation
  • Strong time management skills and driven to achieve timelines and goals
  • Obtain and maintain required FINRA registration and licensing appropriate to your functions and responsibilities
