Overview
Member of the Commercial Real Estate Finance (CREF) team. CREF provides secured debt financings and warehouse facilities to public corporations, private equity groups, REITS, asset managers, and other institutional owners of commercial real estate (CRE). Main responsibility is to originate, structure, underwrite, manage, and close CRE balance sheet loans, SASB CMBS loans, and warehouse lending facilities. This position will work closely with the capital markets desk, credit risk management, loan transaction management, securitization bankers, loan closing team, asset managers and other important stakeholders. Plans and ensures initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
What You’ll Do:
Drive a customer focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. Acts as a role model for the team and an ambassador of the Bank’s values.
Structuring, analysis, and closing CRE balance sheet loans, SASB CMBS loans, and warehouse lending facilities. This involves creating cash flow models, performing collateral analysis, and negotiating term sheets and legal documentation.
Ensure all transactions adhere to the bank's credit policies, risk profile, and regulatory requirements. This professional provides oversight for the credit approval process and proactively manages the portfolio to mitigate potential risks.
Negotiate loan terms and conditions with borrowers working to achieve optimal terms for both the client and the bank.
Partner with REGAL Corporate Banking on business strategy, loan origination and client coverage efforts across commercial mortgage market participants.
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
What You’ll Bring
Experience in CRE underwriting, financing, and structuring
BA/BS degree in finance, economics, real estate, or related discipline preferred
Strong valuation, analytical and problem-solving skills
Exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
