Overview:
The Industrials Investment Banking group at Scotiabank advises leading corporates and financial sponsors across a broad range of subsectors, including Automotive, Business & Industrial Services, Capital Goods, and Building Products. The team focuses on building long‑term relationships with senior executives and private equity professionals, delivering a full suite of investment banking solutions across mergers & acquisitions and equity and debt capital markets.
This role is intended for a Senior Analyst or Junior Associate who will play a critical role in transaction execution and client delivery, while gaining meaningful exposure to senior bankers and clients.
What You’ll Do
- Support the pitching and execution of M&A, equity, and debt capital markets transactions, with increasing ownership over day‑to‑day workstreams
- Prepare and review detailed financial analyses and models, including DCFs, LBOs, merger models, and operating projections
- Develop high‑quality client materials such as pitch books, management presentations, and marketing documents
- Coordinate closely with internal product partners (e.g., Leveraged Finance, ECM, M&A) to deliver integrated, multi‑product solutions
- Assist Associate Directors and Managing Directors on live mandates and client coverage initiatives
- Manage execution timelines and workstreams with limited oversight, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail
- Actively contribute to client coverage efforts, including industry research and relationship development
- Partner effectively with team members to support a collaborative, high‑performance team culture
What You’ll Bring
- 2–5+ years of relevant Investment Banking experience, ideally covering Industrials, or a related sector
- Bachelor’s degree required; strong academic background in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or a quantitative discipline preferred
- Demonstrated strength in financial analysis and modeling, including DCF, LBO, and merger analysis
- Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of valuation principles
- Experience using market data and research platforms such as FactSet, Bloomberg, and MergerMarket
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to deliver high‑quality work under tight deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment
- Team‑oriented mindset with a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and accountability
- Intellectual curiosity, strong work ethic, and a desire to continue developing as a banker
- Ability to obtain and maintain required FINRA registrations and licenses
