Position:  Analyst, Credit Trading / Global Fixed Income / Global Banking and Markets

 

Purpose:
Contributes to the overall success of the Fixed Income Team in the US ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Accountabilities:
•    Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
•    Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment. 
•    Run daily internal risk management and P&L reports
•    Provides assistance in the desk management of IG Credit Trading inventories and generation of trading revenues in compliance with limits and the Bank’s risk profile.
•    Perform various types of analysis using fundamental and technical data 
•    Monitor a variety of markets, economic releases, trends and factors that affect market movement 
•    Continuously improve and develop enhanced procedures and practices to maximize profitability while mitigating funding and liquidity risks
•    Develop and analyze reports for daily reporting purposes
•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
•    Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. 

 

 

Education & Experience: 

Academic: 
•    Holds a relevant bachelor’s degree (Commerce, Economics, Mathematics or related discipline) or equivalent qualification
•    Good capital markets industry acumen
•    Proven record of outstanding achievement in academic and extracurricular activities
•    SIE, Series 7, and Series 63 completed

•    Strong financial and computer literacy skills. High competency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint  
•    Strong written and verbal communication skills 
•    Ability to remain focused in a fast paced and constantly changing work environment
