Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Operations, The Bank of Nova Scotia Trust Company (Bahamas) Limited (International Wealth Distribution & Pension) in Nassau, Bahamas ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. Perform all duties related to the dispatching and receiving of SWIFT and fax messages to ensure prompt and accurate processing of customer and Bank transactions; to maintain all related records so as to ensure easy access by staff for investigation and follow-up purposes. Perform payment functions as related to cheque requisition and deposits to bank accounts. The incumbent will contribute to the efficient operation of the department and will support the supervisor in meeting the Company’s operating requirements and objectives. 

Accountabilities

 Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.  Contribute to the prompt and accurate processing and distribution of customer and Bank transactions/reports by:  Daily input of rates  Input all checked and authorized SWIFT messages in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.  Dispatching and distributing all fax messages in a timely manner.  Contribute to the efficient day-to-day operation  of the Operations Department by:  Uploading all SWIFT messages and GTX acknowledgements to Contend Manager in a timely manner.  Uploading record of daily rates to Contend Manager in a timely manner.   Perform Payment Function  Ensure daily deposits to Trust Company Bank accounts and preparation of relevant deposit slips.  Verify the accuracy, completeness and authorization of all transactions and data as posted in accordance with established policies and procedures.  . Provide backup for Accounting Officer Reconciliation, Funds Officer and Accounts Officer, Payments.  Ensuring Bloomberg rates are inputted correctly in the AS400.  Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.   Compliance: Meet Regulatory Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing and Bank Policies and procedures for Customer transactions by:  Ensuring Bank and customer information is kept secure and confidential at all times.  Monitoring significant and unusual activity, reviewing transactions for suitability and reasonability; conducting due diligence and assisting in obtaining additional information from customers as may be required.  Adhering to Bank security procedures with respect to assigned authorities and responsibilities.  Document and escalate any unusual occurrences or fraudulent activity to your Compliance Officer/Supervisor as per the Bank’s Anti-Money Laundering Guidelines. 

 Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.  Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook, and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.  Champions a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Education / Experience / Other Information (include only those that are specific to the role) The incumbent should at least be a high school graduate and have some experience in or familiarity with SWIFT operations and computers. The incumbent should also possess typing skills (minimum stage I knowledge or certification).
