The Senior Manager, Strategy Design Support, is a key member of the GrowQC Strateg team. Their mandate is to support the design of Scotiabank’s growth strategy for the Quebec market to maximize Scotiabank’s revenue and earnings. Priorities include identifying/scoping and sizing key projects, providing initiative planning support to national and regional initiatives, as well as partnering with regional and Head Office teams to create and implement plans to enhance the Bank’s local operational capabilities.

 

This position also supports the Head of QC Strategy and QC President in multiple Program management activities, ranging from executive meeting preparation to governance-related requirements.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Conceptualize various initiatives aiming at increasing efficiency, productivity and coordination of Qc-based teams across business units and support functions
  • Provide initiative planning support to Head Office and local teams to ensure national initiatives are successfully implemented in Quebec, and adapted to the specifics of the QC market when required
  • In collaboration with Business Line Strategy and Productivity teams, conduct diagnostics to identify process improvement opportunities leading to increased capacity of sale teams.
  • Build business cases and support Head of Strategy in efforts to obtain executive buy-in and secure resources to launch key initiatives.
  • Partner with the Strategy Execution team to ensure adequate transition of initiatives from design to execution phase.
  • Conduct comprehensive review of French-service gaps, build short term remediation plan, and long-term monitoring & continuous improvement strategy
  • Build plan to increase QC-based resources related to local business delivery (in partnership with legal, compliance, operations, translation, etc.)
  • Support meeting preparation, including monthly executive meetings, quarterly leadership Councils, workshops, ideation sessions, etc.
  • Support oversight of Program governance framework, in collaboration with executive office stakeholders
  • Produce Program documentation, including strategy refreshes, executive dashboards, etc.
  • Support annual profit planning with head office finance teams
  • Partner with Data & Insights team to action insights and incorporate learnings/best practices into strategic planning efforts in a data-driven approach.
  • Conduct research and document market trends and insights to ensure GrowQc strategy remains targeted on the right opportunities and anchored in deep understanding of the uniqueness of the QC market
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, in French and English.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management and corporate strategy notions, acquired through a combination of theoretical training and practical experience.
  • Experience working cross functionally with a wide range on internal stakeholders to design and deliver project is desired.
  • He/she must possess superior tactical planning, execution, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in a complex matrix-operating organization and highly regulated industry as well as good knowledge of Banking / Wealth Management products and services is desired.
  • Excellent mastery of reporting and presentation tools; advanced knowledge of Excel and Power Point.
  • Strong business acumen and organizational skills, combined with good analytical skills and ability to collect, structure, analyze, and interpret quantitative data as well as unstructured information.

Please note that this role is based in our Downtown Montreal office.

In addition to French, the successful candidate must also have sufficient knowledge of English, as the work involves interacting and collaborating regularly with groups and individuals based in Toronto, as well as constantly interacting with other people, including clients, who speak English, locally and elsewhere.
