As the Senior Manager, Global Family Office Group, at Scotiabank in the province of Quebec (Quebec), your role supports the acquisition, growth and retention of key Family Office / Ultra-High Net Worth (UHNW) relationships across Scotiabank’s various operating businesses and geographical footprint. Working with the Vice Chair, Global Family Office Group, you will liaise with senior leadership in Global Wealth Management, Canadian Banking, International Banking and Global Banking and Markets to address the unique needs of Family Office / UHNW clients.
You will work independently and with Scotiabank colleagues supporting a portfolio of relationships (existing clients, prospects and COIs). You will assist with executing a strategy focused on the delivery of comprehensive wealth management solutions. This will involve managing and monitoring business plans, assisting with the build-out of a client value proposition, collaborating with key internal stakeholders and the identification of potential clients via internal and external business partners.
At the direction of the Vice Chair, Global Family Office Group, you may be asked to assist Senior Executives and internal partners with strategic initiatives / key client relationships in the province of Quebec.
You will manage the business in accordance with the goals and objectives to grow assets, revenues and profitability while managing risk, compliance, operational efficiencies, expenses and talent requirements.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
1. Achieve Revenue & Sales targets for assigned geographical region
- Grow assets under management by obtaining referrals for new clients from internal partners, and external COIs.
- Grow the UHNW practices by supporting the delivery of comprehensive solutions (i.e. new products and strategies) to existing Bank clients
- Partner with internal stakeholders to protect revenue lines associated with established UHNW relationships
2. Support for Key Clients and Transactions:
- Coordinate communication and ongoing contact with specified clients
- Guide subject matter experts to support the execution of individual client engagements
- Assist in the development and delivery of client acquisition strategies including client research, data preparation, marketing materials and presentations
- Assist and lead client presentations and meetings
- Support the Vice Chair with the key client relationships in Quebec
3. Grow GFOG’s Market Presence
- Support business strategies and objectives. These include:
- A pipeline of prospective clients not currently dealing with Scotiabank
- Establish the GFOG as the key internal resource in Quebec to support the delivery of comprehensive “all of bank” solutions to existing customers
- Establish and maintain connections to key COIs
- In conjunction with broader team, create and execute an independent UHNW client event; hosted in Quebec for Principals, Family Office Teams, COIs (selectively), Scotiabank business partners (Country Managers and Team/Business Leaders)
4. Subject Matter Expertise
- Provide counsel to business line partners relative to the UHNW client segment
- Maintain awareness of current market practices in the UHNW space
- Maintain a thorough understanding of credit, investment and wealth structuring solutions employed by the UHNW community domestically and offshore
5. Team Membership and Collaboration
- Communicate and reiterate GFOG’s Vision and Strategy to key client facing partners in Quebec
- Work closely with stakeholders to champion and embed GFOG as a valuable wealth solution for their ultra-high net worth individual
- Business development, strategic alignment with key business partners – top proficiency
- Sharing knowledge, experience and responsibility with SMEs in a drive for the highest standards of professionalism and service excellence
- Building strong effective working relationships with various business line, internal and external stakeholders
- Fostering a collaborative environment between SMEs and key stakeholders
- Exhibiting an ability to listen, negotiate and communicate goals
- Facilitating a culture of open and honest communication
- Providing support to and acting on behalf of the Vice Chair & Head when required.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We’d love to work with you if you have:
- Bilingual in French and English – strong written and oral skills
- Excellent knowledge of Wealth Management products and service offering
- High level of discretion required in dealing with confidential matters
- Excellent understanding of the international wealth model including private banking and brokerage product, and services and client experience models in high end offerings
- A sound understanding of Scotiabank’s risk appetite as well as a broad understanding of Scotiabank’s structure, operations, policies and procedures
- Solid understanding of Commercial Banking, GBM and other Scotiabank areas
- Possess tactical planning and implementation skills
- Highly motivated, innovative and results-oriented individual with excellent analytical skills
- Superior analytical, and oral and written communication capabilities are essential
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills to build consensus and obtain co-operation
- Ability to think and respond quickly, able to adapt to change readily
- Strong relationship building and strategic influencing skills to gain support of the Banks’ product and supporting organizations
- Thorough knowledge of Scotiabank policies, procedures and operations

- University degree with approximately 3-5 years’ experience in the financial services industry
- Prior work experience in the Investment & Insurance industry
- Prior work experience as a financial planner
- Prior work experience dealing with wholesale credit underwriting (Commercial, Corporate and Private Banking)
- Solid Knowledge of taxation, regulatory and asset holding vehicles (e.g. trusts, private investment companies etc.)
- Industry licensing (financial planning / insurance / securities)
This role will require some traveling within the province of Quebec and to Toronto.
In addition to French, the successful candidate must also have sufficient knowledge of English, as the work involves interacting and collaborating regularly with groups and individuals based in Toronto, as well as constantly interacting with other people, including clients, who speak English, locally and elsewhere.
