As a Research Analyst / Associate covering the Technology sector, you will contribute to Jarislowsky Fraser’s Global Equity investment team by supporting fundamental research, developing forward-looking insights, and preparing investment recommendations for portfolio managers. This role is well suited to a junior to intermediate investment professional with strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and an interest in building deep sector expertise within a collaborative, long-term investment environment

 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

 

Support coverage of assigned sectors or companies by developing financial models, forecasts, and valuation frameworks.

Develop independent investment ideas and contribute recommendations supported by rigorous analysis.

Collaborate with portfolio managers to integrate research insights into the investment process and contribute to portfolio strategy discussions.

Maintain active engagement with company management teams, industry participants, and sell-side analysts to gather qualitative and quantitative insights.

Evaluate risks and opportunities in the context of Jarislowsky Fraser’s disciplined, long-term investment philosophy.

Contribute to continuous improvement of research processes, data management, and analytical tools.

Collaborate with senior analysts and portfolio managers, learning from experienced investors while contributing to a high-performance research culture.

Ensure all activities adhere to internal policies, regulatory standards, and risk management practices.

 

Education, Professional Experience, Certifications and Skills required:

 

2-6 years of relevant experience in buy-side, sell-side equity research, or investment banking or a related investment analysis role.

A university degree in finance, economics, accounting, or a related field; an MBA or CFA designation (or progress toward one) strongly preferred.

Demonstrated success in developing original investment theses and conducting fundamental, bottom-up analysis.

Deep understanding of financial statements, industry dynamics, and valuation methodologies.

Exceptional analytical abilities, attention to detail, and intellectual curiosity.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present investment ideas persuasively.

Proficiency in analytical tools such as Excel, Bloomberg, Capital IQ, or FactSet.

A collaborative mindset, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Work in a standard office-based environment



In addition to French, the successful candidate must also have sufficient knowledge of English, as the work involves interacting and collaborating regularly with groups and individuals based in Toronto, as well as constantly interacting with other people, including clients, who speak English, locally and elsewhere.
