Join our Global Wealth Management Linguistic Services team as a Fall intern and gain hands-on experience across a variety of linguistic and project coordination functions. This internship offers a unique opportunity for a third-year Bachelor’s student (Translation) to explore multiple facets of the language services – including translation, proofreading, project management, team operations, terminology management, and desktop publishing – in a dynamic, fast-paced financial industry environment. You will contribute to a specialized team that handles a high volume of translation requests (over 10,000 per year) and leverages advanced translation and project management tools to deliver multilingual services within Scotiabank’s Global Wealth Management division. Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Project Coordination: Assist in reviewing and prioritizing incoming translation requests, ensuring all necessary information is provided, and help allocate work among translators and revisers based on their workload and expertise. Learn risk management in translation.

 

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Linguistic Services management team and colleagues on various initiatives, gaining insight into team leadership and operations.

 

  • Translation & Revision: Contribute to translating and proofreading selected documents (primarily English to French) under supervision, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with Scotiabank’s brand standards.

 

  • Terminology Management: Research relevant terminology and assist in maintaining translation memories and terminology databases to ensure consistency and high quality across all translated materials.

 

  • Desktop Publishing Support: Prepare documents for translation, help perform final quality control and formatting of translated documents, checking for linguistic correctness, consistency, and proper layout before publication. 

 

 

Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if:

 

  • You are currently enrolled in the 3rd year of a Bachelor’s in Translation.
  • Full professional fluency in English and French (written and spoken), with excellent knowledge of Canadian English and Canadian French (Québécois) conventions.
  • You demonstrate curiosity and initiative, are eager to learn, and proactively ask questions while taking on new challenges. You have strong attention to detail and the ability to recognize risk.
  • You have strong communication / interpersonal skills.
  • You have a strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • You have experience with standard office and translation tools and familiarity with computer-assisted translation (CAT) software, terminology databases, project management tools, and MS Office/Adobe Acrobat for document formatting and artificial intelligence.
