The Director, Tax, Estate Planning, and Retirement Strategy serves as a subject matter expert supporting the firm’s distribution team and advisor network. This role translates complex planning concepts into actionable client solutions, enhancing the value proposition of the firm’s investment products and wealth strategies. The position bridges advanced financial planning expertise with business development objectives, helping advisors deepen client relationships and drive asset growth.
Is this role right for you? In this role you will:
- Partner with national and regional sales teams to deliver tax, estate, and retirement planning insights that support advisor engagement and sales initiatives.
- Develop and present client-facing and advisor training materials that integrate planning strategies with the firm’s investment solutions.
- Provide technical expertise for distribution teams & digital properties on tax-efficient investing, retirement income design, and estate transfer planning.
- Collaborate with marketing and product teams to create thought leadership content, white papers, and educational tools.
- Monitor and communicate regulatory and legislative changes affecting tax, retirement, and estate strategies.
- Represent the firm at industry conferences, client events, and media engagements as a subject matter expert.
- Support high-value advisor practices through consultation, case support, and advanced planning discussions.

Education, Professional Experience, Certifications and Skills required:
- Professional designation required: CFP or Pl.Fin (Quebec)
- 10+ years of experience in financial planning, tax, or estate strategy within asset management, private wealth, or financial services
- Strong technical understanding of Canadian tax and retirement systems; U.S. cross-border & International knowledge an asset.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Proven ability to simplify complex concepts for advisors and clients.
- Client-Centric Thinking: Deep understanding of advisor and investor needs, with the ability to translate tax & investment complexity into clear, actionable guidance.
- Strategic Collaboration: Skilled in aligning cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions that support business growth.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of market dynamics, product positioning, and advisor engagement strategies.
- Analytical Rigor: Ability to balance qualitative judgment with quantitative insights that balances subject matter expertise alongside portfolio construction strategies.
- Leadership Presence: Credible, articulate, and comfortable representing the firm in both internal and external forums
Working Conditions:
Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Moderate travel domestically
In addition to French, the successful candidate must also have sufficient knowledge of English, as the work involves interacting and collaborating regularly with groups and individuals based in Toronto, as well as constantly interacting with other people, including clients, who speak English, locally and elsewhere.
