The Total Wealth Planning Associate supports the preparation and delivery of comprehensive financial plans for high-net-worth clients, helping translate client information into clear planning strategies across retirement, estate, insurance, tax, and related planning needs.
You will work with Senior Total Wealth Planners, advisors, and specialists in a collaborative environment that values accuracy, client focus, sound judgment, and continuous learning.
Key Accountabilities
1. Planning Support
- Champion a client-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Prepare comprehensive Total Wealth Plans covering retirement, estate, insurance, tax, asset protection, and investment-related planning considerations.
- Translate client discovery information into accurate planning inputs and analysis for Senior Total Wealth Planners.
- Develop preliminary planning scenarios aligned to each client’s goals and priorities.
- Work with advisors and specialists to gather information, review files, and support integrated recommendations.
- Finalize plans, action items, recommendations, and next steps before client discussions.
- Update plans after client meetings and ensure work is accurate, complete, documented, and timely.
- Support operations in line with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, policies, controls, and compliance obligations.
- Champion a high-performance environment and contribute to an inclusive, collaborative workplace.
2. Compliance and Quality Control
- Review advisor-completed plans in accordance with applicable regulatory and internal requirements.
- Assess plan assumptions for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness to help mitigate risk and strengthen quality.
- Complete reviews in accordance with established criteria, process standards, and expected timelines.
3. Contribute to Professional Practice
- Stay current on relevant legislation, planning trends, industry developments, and emerging best practices.
- Refine planning software modelling strategies and share best practices with the team.
4. Support the Client Solutions Team
- Build strong, collaborative relationships across the team, business lines, and corporate partners.
- Contribute ideas that support innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Maintain a development plan that supports continued learning and career growth.
Job Requirements
Skills, Experience and Competencies
- Knowledge of financial planning concepts, including investments, tax, retirement, estate planning, and risk management.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build effective relationships.
- Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Experience with financial planning software; Conquest experience is an asset.
- A collaborative mindset and a commitment to delivering outstanding service.
Education and Qualifications
- College or university degree, preferably in business, finance, economics, or a related field.
- Working toward a QAFP, CFP, or equivalent financial planning credential.
