The Role:

 

As a Sr Manager, Investment Services you will leads and oversee the Investment Services Unit in Canada ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 

 


What your role will be: 

 

 

•    Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
•    Direct the activities of the Department to ensure the achievement of quality service goals and objectives. This is accomplished by effectively responding to issues for internal/external clients relating to all Registered Investment Products, Scotia Mutual Funds, and 3rd Party Mutual Funds. Monitor service and performance levels of the department and ensure implementation of effective improvements, as well as providing Senior Management with daily status on service targets.
•    Effectively and efficiently manage the accurate transfer of assets daily from branches to Dealers. Ensure the daily settlement of outstanding trades, report on and correct all rejected transactions and continually maintain an accurate Dealer database.
•    Ensure effective utilization of the department's Human Resources by preparing and conducting staff Performance Appraisal Reports, as well as, ensuring that all personnel activities involving hiring, promotions, performance, transfers, and salaries are performed in accordance with bank policy. Provide training, guidance and counsel to staff and conduct regular staff meetings to ensure open lines of communication are maintained.
•    Identify opportunities for automation, process/system enhancements and participate in the development, design, testing and implementation by ensuring all legislative changes are appropriately covered. As well, direct or participate in special projects as assigned by the Director. Ensure processes are not interrupted when new or changed procedures, or interfacing systems are implemented by directing/assisting in the definition of the problem and act where necessary.
•    Aid Clients, Branches, call Centers, and other internal/external contacts via telephone or correspondence as they relate to interpretation of policies by providing guidance in the resolution of complex or unusual situations to ensure total satisfaction is attained.
•    Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
•    Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
•    Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team. 
•    Providing leadership and direction to the day-to-day operations within the Business Unit ensuring matters of Compliance, Anti Money Laundering Compliance, and Privacy matters are managed and executed asper Bank regulatory guidelines and escalations are made as required. 

 

 

 

Experience/Skills you already have:

 


•    Knowledge and understanding of the complex and detailed requirements involving registered product procedures including Deposits, Mutual Fund Securities regulations, and Legislative regulations with respect to all tax-sheltered products.
•    Strong leadership, organizational, decision making/problem solving skills, analytical/conceptual skills, motivational ability, interpersonal relationship skills, as well as diplomacy and tact, to deal with all levels of internal and external contacts
•    Post-Secondary Education
•    5 Years Management and Industry Experience
