As the Director, Strategy, Planning and Operational Governance, you will lead and oversee strategic planning, analytics, performance measurement and quality assurance for the Retail and Business Service Centre in Canada. With oversight of the operating budgets, you will ensure business strategies, plans and initiatives conform to applicable governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.



Who we are

The Strategy, Planning & Operational Governance team of the Retail & Business Service Centre (RBSC) is an integral function that provides strategic and operational support to leadership. The team is comprised of specialists in finance/budgeting, management information & reporting, quality assurance, functional governance and strategic planning. This team directly interacts with the executive management, along with partners in Finance, Audit, Testing & Compliance, and the Project Management Office.


What will you do?


Provide oversight and effective management of MIS, financial planning, and reporting processes and outputs:

  • Produce and distribute weekly, monthly, and quarterly operational and financial reports in a timely manner
  • Align KPIs and reporting to Bank and industry standards, and develop new and innovative ways of evaluating performance so the Management team can better identify drivers of efficiency and productivity (i.e., identify and implement new KPIs that improve productivity, efficiency, and the customer experience)
  • Monitor business case budgets and expected results and report any variances to plan to Executives
  • Review and evaluate proposed operating and other initiatives budgets, and capital expenditure forecasts
  • Develop workforce planning scenarios, templates, and tools to assist RBSC leaders in managing supply/demand human capital requirements


Enhance reporting through automation, and oversee / support initiatives to drive productivity improvements:

  • Improve KPI standardization and report quality across the RBSC, and identify and deliver opportunities for automation (data feeds, report production)
  • Evaluate, select, and implement technology solutions for report automation as required, conduct testing activities, and implement solutions working with key partners
  • Promote a balance of self serve (e.g. Power BI) and standard reporting across the RBSC including a reliable and accessible reporting portal


 Lead and oversee an effective risk-based quality assurance program to ensure business strategies, plans and operations are executed:

  • Align RBSC department/functional quality controls into the overall quality assurance program through strong governance, templates, reporting, and reviews
  • Assess the reliability of operations of the internal control and operating standard at the RBSC
  • Develop trending across quality controls, regulatory reviews,1B testing, and audits to identify systemic trends and issues


What we’re looking for

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, business or related field required (e.g. CPA)
  • Experience in strategic execution, project management, analytics, reporting
  • Strong experience in finance and ability to translate findings into recommendations for executive management to drive the business
  • Strong experience in workforce management; ability to use data and make recommendations on volumes
  • Deep understanding of the Financial Industry
  • Exceptional planning and analytical skills, ability to discern data and focus on critical issues
  • Strong presentation and written communication skills
  • A strong ability to develop creative and innovative solutions (i.e., “to think outside the box”);
  • Expert coaching, training and performance management skills;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
