As a Data Engineering Lead, you will contribute to the overall success of the Fraud Management Group globally ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  In addition, you will ensure all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

 

You will be a BI development lead and will be accountable for designing and developing the BI data architecture that organizes and transforms raw data into meaningful information, in order to provide actionable strategic and operational insights for decision making. 

 

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Analyze highly complex business rules and logic and translating those into technical design and implementations
  • Identify common ingestion pattern and design ETL framework
  • Data wrangling to merge disjointed data sources and implement complex data transformation
  • Develop ETL process using MS SQL Server BI stack to ingest, transform, cleanse and load data into on-prem SQL Server 2017
  • Develop BI tabular model using MS SQL Server Analysis Services to standardize and consolidate business logic and enable self-serve BI
  • Conduct source data analysis and profiling to complete source to target mapping
  • Logical and physical data modeling to develop highly optimized data infrastructure for fast querying of large volume of data
  • Assure data quality, security, and compliance requirements are met
  • Be flexible and thrive in a fast paced and constantly evolving environment
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Skills you already have

  • Post-graduate degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field required
  • 7+ years of experience in designing, developing, and deployment of large scale data warehouse projects from end to end
  • Experience working with operational datasets, such as user activity log and claims workflow, to derive employee performance metric required
  • Expert knowledge and hands on experience with SQL Scripting
  • Expert knowledge of dimensional data modelling
  • Expert knowledge working with SQL Server SSIS, Integration Services Catalog and project deployment
  • Experience working with Agile methodology for BI and Analytics
  • Experience working with Azure SQL DB
  • Experience working with GCP BigQuery
  • Experience working with BitBucket or TFS, and creating DevOps pipeline
