Job Purpose:

As the Senior Analyst, Key Control Effectiveness, you will contribute to the overall success of the Centralized Review Team / Regulatory Operations & Control, Shared Services Group – Canadian Banking Operations in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  You will ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


You are responsible to maintain a high level of expertise and knowledge over policies, procedures, applications and products related to regulatory and operational risk, and will apply this knowledge in the testing of high-risk regulatory and operational controls within Canadian Banking. 


Key Accountabilites:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Assists the Manager/Senior Manager/Director in sustaining the 1B Testing high-risk regulatory and operational controls within Canadian Banking and playbook, including test planning, sample methodologies, schedules, procedures and reporting.
  • Conducts testing of key high-risk regulatory and operational controls, as planned, by reviewing assigned business or operational units.  This includes:
    • Execute performance reviews, in accordance with testing scripts and relevant policies/procedures.
    • Sample customer accounts and transactions; review related process; reconcile related business line metrics and key risk indicators to determine compliance to related procedures and standards.
    • Concisely – and with a high level of accuracy – recording testing results into the Bank’s integrated testing platform.
    • Preparing reports on test findings and communicating results to the appropriate business unit, and ensuring control deficiencies are investigated and corrective action plans are put in place.
  • Performs ad-hoc, special, and/or focused reviews as necessary, as well as other testing duties and projects as assigned. 
  • Develops and maintains a strong knowledge of, and relationship with, Canadian Banking business units, and various internal/external partners.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Functional Competenices:

  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian Banking regulations – Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Anti-Terrorist Financing (ATF)/Know Your Customer (KYC)/Sanctions, Privacy, Sarbanes Oxley, Foreign Account Tax Compliance (FATCA), etc.), policies and procedures, systems applications, operations and support functions, complaint resolution standard.
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian Banking delivery channels, products, benefits and services.
  • Experience in control testing or quality assurance
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships both internally & externally and influence change with numerous cross functional project team members and Department/Unit staff/Management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
