Subdir Iniciativas Estrategicas (Sr Manager Strategic Initiatives & Governance)
Purpose
Lead the design and governance of incentive plans for sales channels in Retail International Banking, and enable regional alignment across channels through performance tracking, dashboards, and executive presentations that support decision-making, Sales Effectiveness, and the implementation of the Distribution Strategy.
Responsibilities:
Incentive Design and Governance
- Designs and leads the regional guidelines for the Variable Compensation Plan (VCP) for all sales roles across the different channels.
- Defines scorecards, mechanisms for achieving primacy within incentives, customer experience modifiers, and conduct foundations.
- Manages the country presentation and exceptions process: reviews, challenges, and approves local schemes against regional guidelines.
- Coordinates approval across Regional Product, Segments, Performance, Finance, Risk, Compliance, HR, Total Compensation, and Communications.
- Monitors the results of the implementation of countries’ incentive plans, ensuring consistency, adherence to guidelines, and that they are moving in the direction that secures Productivity and Service results and compliance with the established control mechanisms.
Channel Planning and Distribution Strategy
- Works with channel leaders to translate the retail distribution strategy into channel-specific plans.
- Ensures that incentive design aligns with each channel’s strategy, safeguarding stronger Sales Effectiveness, Customer Experience, and always protecting the established control framework.
Sales Effectiveness and Frontline Transformation
- Identifies capability gaps across markets and defines the initiatives needed to close them.
- Coordinates execution with local teams and regional partners; monitors progress, highlights risks, and drives corrective actions.
Performance Reporting and Analytics
- Designs and executes the metrics framework that tracks channel performance, sales productivity, primacy, customer growth, customer experience, and conduct.
- Prepares executive reports for senior management and regional governance forums.
- Uses data to continuously refine plans, scorecards, and program priorities.
Risk, Conduct and People
- Ensures that incentive design and channel programs comply with Scotiabank’s risk culture, regulatory standards, AML/ATF, conduct, and operational risk frameworks.
Education / Experience / Other Information
- University degree with more than 5 years of leadership experience in retail banking channels, products, or sales effectiveness.
- Strong understanding of retail banking products, segments, channels, and frontline economics.
- Proven experience leading multinational programs with senior stakeholder management.
- Strong analytical skills: ability to take a complex, multi-market problem, break it down, and build a clear recommendation.
- Comfort presenting at the Executive level and drafting decision-ready documents.
- Expert knowledge of international or Latin American retail banking is valued.
- English Level: Bilingual
Working Conditions
Work will be performed under a hybrid model, combining workdays from Home Office and at Scotiabank’s Head Office in the country where the incumbent resides. In addition, the role may require occasional travel to IB countries, which could include visits to branches, depending on business needs and the responsibilities inherent to the position.
