Senior Manager, Deposits Products 

 


Purpose

Supports the Director in providing central strategic leadership and oversight for the Retail & Small Business Deposits Products for IB Retail. Partners with Retail Product leaders across the enterprise and countries for execution. Ensures that business strategies, plans, and initiatives deliver sustained and profitable growth in the short, medium, and long term and are supported in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 


Accountabilities

•    Customer-Focused Culture: Drives a customer-focused culture throughout the team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

•    P&L Management: At the regional level, acknowledging that P&L is a local accountability, assists in managing Profit and Loss statements request for the Retail & Small Business Deposits Products, including delivering on financial goals/targets for NII, NIR, and NIAT.

•    Product Strategy and Product Management: Drive financial product vision and roadmap across channels. Supports all aspects of product management for the business line: strategy, design, development, launch, performance and lifecycle. Support delivery of product economics and profitability. Support product-channel combinations based on retail strategy, customer behavior and performance. Strong partnership with local product teams is required to ensure product is consistent with local market needs.
 
•    Product Design & Development: Provides support to maintain a best-in-class deposit products shelf standardized for the region with clear value propositions for prioritized segments and products that support client primacy. Innovates continuously to meet changing client needs and keep up with industry trends, ensuring lean E2E product processes. Ensure careful prioritization, opportunity analysis, and support user testing to achieve business results within financial and timing constraints. Support experimentation and A/B testing to improve customer journeys and outcomes. Support business case, NIRA, PIA, requirements.

•    Participate in the preparation of requirements related to technological and systemic developments, with the aim of contributing to Process Digitalization, the Bank’s Digitalization and Transformation strategy, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and normative requirements related to the product

•    Performance Monitoring: Assists in overseeing the implementation of key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success of strategies within the retail & small business deposits products.

•    Stakeholder Engagement: Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders in the region, ensuring effective communication and understanding of the central strategy.

•    Centre of Excellence: Supports the COE for retail deposit products deployment. Shares best practices across the region and standardizes retail deposits products strategy.

•    Operational Efficiency: Aligns retail deposits products model to a regional scale by overseeing the implementation of a new operating model for the retail deposit products for all segments.

•    Risk Management: Communicates and incorporates the relevant risk appetite statement and risk appetite measures, in alignment with the Bank’s risk culture, into activities to:

    Embed prudent risk-taking into day-to-day management, planning, and decision-making.
    Implement controls and processes to effectively identify, report, and monitor risk.
    Ensure timely action is taken to effectively manage and mitigate risks, including prompt escalation of breaches of management limits or risk appetite measures as per established processes.

•    Operational Compliance: Ensures effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles. Ensures the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.

•    Team Leadership: Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors. Communicates vision/values/business strategy and manages succession and development planning for the team.
 

 

Education / Experience / Other Information

•    Bilingual (English-Spanish)
•    Bachelor’s degree required and master’s degree preferred in Business/Finance/Economics.
•    Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the financial sector. 
•    Proven experience in Product Management and Product Development
•    Proficiency in product lifecycle management and data analysis tools.
•    Digital expertise. Knowledge of digital technologies, Product tech developments, UX/UI principles, and emerging trends.
•    Demonstrated strategic influencing ability, and a high degree of collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
•    Strong financial and business acumen with a result-oriented and problem-solving mindset.
•    Experience in financial product management, preferably with experience with deposits and payroll products. 
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills.
•    Experience in applying agile principles and practices.
•    Exceptional business planning, product strategy development, and project execution skills.

 


Working Conditions
•    Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.  
•    Occasional travel internationally might be required.
