Purpose

Leads and oversees the Merchant Services (Acquiring) business in Mexico, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered.

Accountabilities

•            Leads merchant services across Scotiabank’s Mexico footprint, including P&L responsibility for delivering on financial objectives and coordinating efforts across all necessary business units.

•            Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

•            Strategic Development – Lead the efforts to develop and execute new innovative strategies that expand the Merchant Services portfolio into new sectors, by identifying emerging industry trends, customer needs, key market segments, new geographies and developing technologies.

•            Product Delivery and Partner Management – Managing the relationship with internal and external stakeholders and strategic partners to drive the development and delivery of new merchant services offering and sales & services engagement framework that contributes to the competitive and comprehensive offering to meet customers’ needs.  Includes participating in partner relationship activities.

•            Product Operations, Servicing and Commercialization – Ensures that products are competitively positioned, profitability is maximized, and existing and future customer needs are met.  Responsible for the end-to-end customer experience across all business segments, including onboarding experience to ensure merchants are provided the best experience. 

•            Accountable for working with the partners on the product management cycle, all marketing campaigns targeted to business markets within an assigned portfolio and sales support.  

•            SME (Subject Matter Expert) responsible to ensure BNS’ value proposition is competitive and following market a trends, competition and client demands.

•            Drive and execute customer segmentation and pricing strategies to meet local and segment specific business objectives.

•            Leadership - Provides strong team leadership to motivate and develop individual and team performance.  Fostering and developing a strong, positive team environment, driving employee empowerment, innovation and a high degree of engagement.   Ensuring the performance management process is in place and employee development is a priority for all employees on the team

•            Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

•            Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. 

•            Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviors; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.

Experience:

•            Degree / post graduate degree, preferably in business

•            Significant experience in Merchant Services (Acquiring), preferably at an acquirer and/or processor and/or network

•            Minimum 10 years progressive experience in product management and strategy

•            Demonstrated track record of successfully developing products at scale, growing customer adoption, and working closely with external partners

•            Comfort working in an agile, matrixed environment.

•            Bilingual Preferred: Spanish and English.
