Consultor/a BI
Purpose
The AI Strategy Analyst supports Scotiabank México's Retail Banking strategy by applying artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and rigorous quantitative methods to redesign processes, evaluate business cases, and accelerate strategic decisions across the retail franchise. Working directly under the Director of Retail Strategy & Market Performance, this role serves as an internal AI accelerator — identifying where intelligent automation, machine learning, and data-driven modeling can generate measurable value for the bank, its clients, and its operations.
Accountabilities
AI-Powered Process Redesign & Automation
• Map, question, and redesign end-to-end business processes across retail domains — including Marketing, Contact Centre, Auto Lending, Mortgage Origination, Payroll Banking, and Operations — identifying where AI or automation can eliminate friction, reduce cost, or improve client experience.
• Develop process redesign proposals that move beyond incremental improvement toward structural reimagination using AI-native tools (e.g., LLMs, computer vision, NLP, RPA, agent-based workflows).
• Prototype and test AI-assisted solutions in collaboration with Technology, Operations, and Analytics teams; document results and translate findings into actionable recommendations for leadership.
• Maintain a living inventory of AI use-case opportunities within the retail franchise, prioritized by feasibility, impact, and strategic alignment.
Business Case & Benefit Modeling (AI-Assisted)
• Design and build rigorous benefit-cost (B/C) models for AI and transformation initiatives using quantitative frameworks; apply sensitivity analysis, scenario modeling, and Monte Carlo simulation where appropriate.
• Quantify the economic value of AI use cases across dimensions including: cost reduction, revenue uplift, client experience improvement (NPS/FCR), risk reduction, and FTE productivity gains.
• Validate assumptions with primary data where available; declare and document all modeling assumptions, data limitations, and confidence intervals explicitly.
• Support investment prioritization decisions by translating financial models into concise executive narratives suitable for C-suite review.
Strategic Analysis & Insight Generation
• Conduct structured analysis of business performance, market trends, and competitive dynamics in Mexican retail banking, with a specific lens on AI and digital disruption by fintechs and incumbents.
• Develop data-driven answers to strategic questions posed by the Director and senior leadership, using internal data, public sources, and AI-assisted research tools.
• Produce concise, executive-quality deliverables: strategy memos, slide decks, one-pagers, and analytical appendices with full methodology documentation.
• Contribute to quarterly strategy reviews and planning cycles with analytical inputs and scenario analysis across key retail segments and products.
Priority Domain Activation
• The Analyst will focus AI initiatives across the following retail domains.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Knowledge Transfer
• Partner with Technology, Data & Analytics, Risk, Operations, and Product teams to co-develop and validate AI solutions; ensure that prototypes are technically sound and operationally viable.
• Represent the Strategy team in working groups, agile squads, and AI/digital transformation initiatives as needed.
• Document AI methodologies, tools, and learnings in a structured knowledge base accessible to the broader Strategy team; act as an internal AI capability resource.
Education / Experience / Other Information
• Bachelor's degree required in one of the following disciplines: Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Actuarial Science, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, or a closely related STEM field.
• Postgraduate specialization in AI, Machine Learning, or Data Science is a plus but not required.
• Academic performance demonstrating quantitative rigor and analytical problem-solving is valued above GPA alone.
• Full professional bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required; all executive deliverables are produced in English.
• 0–3 years of professional or internship experience; recent graduates from top STEM programs are strongly encouraged to apply.
• Demonstrated experience (academic, personal project, or professional) building quantitative models, data pipelines, or analytical tools.
• Prior exposure to banking, fintech, consulting, or strategy functions is a plus, not a prerequisite.
• Proficiency in Python and/or R for data analysis, modeling, and automation (required).
◦ Familiarity with pandas, scikit-learn, statsmodels, or equivalent libraries.
◦ Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) or AI-assisted development tools is a strong differentiator.
• Strong command of Excel/Google Sheets for financial modeling; experience with Power BI, Tableau, or Looker is a plus.
• Familiarity with SQL for data querying and extraction.
• Ability to structure and present quantitative findings clearly using PowerPoint / Google Slides
Working Conditions
• Hybrid office-based environment in Mexico City; presence in the office expected for key team sessions, leadership reviews, and cross-functional workshops.
