Purpose
Act as SME and key point of escalation for market risk arising from Collateral Management Funding (CMF) and Treasury desk activities, and Liquidity risks for BNS London Branch.
Contributes to the overall success of the Trade Floor Risk Management / Global Risk Management department in the UK ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.
Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Key accountabilities
- Provide oversight of London branch Liquidity Risk Management. Support the delivery of a roadmap to strengthen local liquidity risk management.
- Provide daily limit monitoring, review and challenge ad-hoc limit changes and annual business review. Review and challenge liquidity stress testing methodologies and assumptions.
- Provide oversight of Treasury and ALM activities, review interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB) and structural FX risk. Produce and review liquidity and treasury risk MI for senior management and ALCO committee.
- Support the build-out of operational resilience for Treasury/Liquidity risk oversight across time zones. Coordinate with regional stakeholders to ensure risk issues and emerging concerns are escalated appropriately and managed consistently.
- Strengthen and maintain local liquidity risk management governance including framework review, policy addendum.
- Work closely with global Risk teams to algin best practice and ensure local framework and practices meet internal expectation of the Bank and external expectations from regulators.
- Provide oversight of market risks within the CMF business line including exposures arising from STF and short-term interest rate products. Closely monitor tail risk and provide ad-hoc forward looking analysis in stress event.
- Work in partnership with front office, provide effective review and challenge to support new initiatives.
- Review and challenge VaR and Stress Test results to ensure results are accurate and adequately reflect the risk that the business is running.
- Maintain and ensure appropriateness and suitability of market or liquidity risk models locally for CMF and Treasury,
- Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but no limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk management Framework, AML/ATF Global handbook and the Code of Conduct.

Education / Experience
- Experience in ALM, Liquidity and Capital Market activities in particular fixed income products markets.
- Sound understanding of market risk, liquidity risk and stress testing.
- Good understanding of UK regulations around liquidity and ALM.
- Degree in economics/finance/numerical or a quantitative discipline.
- Experience in risk management or direct experience in the financial industry.
- Strong numerical and computational skills required particularly in VBA and Tableau, Power BI would be a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced trade floor environment with multiple priorities
