Director & Head, Global Transaction Banking 

Location: London

 

Purpose
Leads and oversees Global Transaction Banking in Europe ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

This role falls into scope under the PRA/FCA Certification Regime and requires the individual to be internally ‘Certified’ as a significant harm function.


Accountabilities

•    Drives the development & profitable growth of the Treasury Management Office (TMO) in the assigned region by driving a customer focused culture to deepen existing client relationships and source new transaction banking business across GTB products & solutions.

•    Promotes business development in line with both business line and the Group’s strategy by focusing on core markets and core solutions across the network.  Identifies and influences new product development in line with client & market demand and drives any new initiatives in the Region.

•    Leads a diverse team, both direct & dual reporting lines comprised of industry aligned treasury management officers (TMOs), and product solutions specialists (PSS) with expertise in cash management, trade & working capital solutions and deposits & investments. The structure of the team is subject to change as the region grows and the business evolves.

•    As a player/manager, provides coaching to TMOs that serve as the primary transaction banking relationship contact for CFOs, Treasurers, VPs of Finance and Controllers in collaboration with other Bank partners.  

•    Collaborates with key partners including Corporate & Investment Banking, Global Treasury, Global Risk Management, Capital Markets, Investment Banking as well as corporate functions both in the region and across markets as required.

•    Delivers thought leadership to the market, prospects, and clients, in collaboration with solutions specialists & product partners via on-site and virtual meetings, industry conferences, roundtables, and client entertainment & events across an industry diverse portfolio.

•    Leverages GTB Europe’s capabilities to deliver a high level of Cross Border service to primary clients at both the parent level and subsidiary level, supporting the BNS Group’s subsidiaries/affiliates & branches to deliver for primary customers in their respective Region.  

•    Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

•    Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Code of Conduct. 

•    Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team. 

•    Under the UK Senior Managers Regime, Senior Managers can delegate certain tasks and/or responsibilities to delegated individuals.  The Senior Manager responsibilities delegated to the Director of Global Transaction Banking, Europe are set out in a table below.


Experience

•    Certified Role. Material Risk Taker “MRT”
•    Appropriate level of experience in a Sales, or Product/Account Management, legal and/or credit risk analysis roles within a banking environment
•    Success in managing a team and meeting/exceeding stated growth and return objectives.
•    Minimum degree qualification in a relevant subject
•    Knowledge of Spanish would be desirable but not essential
