Programme Overview:
Scotiabank offers a fantastic summer internship opportunity to gain experience within our London Investment Banking division covering the Upstream Energy and Metals & Mining sectors commencing in June 2026.
This 10-week programme is designed for students in their penultimate year of study who are eager to learn and have a passion for M&A. The role provides exposure to a stimulating and dynamic environment which offers practical, hands-on experience working with top professionals and senior leaders of the Bank.
What You Can Expect:
During the programme, you will:
- Research various companies, assets and transactions using public and private information sources to prepare meaningful analyses
- Support with drafting prospectuses, documentation and marketing presentations for the relevant Upstream Energy and Metals & Mining sectors transactions
- Participate in strategic discussions concerning new and existing business opportunities for clients and effectively translate these ideas into client pitches and presentations
- Maintain and update company and transaction databases
- Maintain Scotiabank and Global Investment Banking – Upstream Energy and Metals & Mining qualifications/credentials for use in marketing opportunities and pitches
- Where appropriate, work closely with and assist deal teams on live transactions, helping them to provide timely client support
- Assist in building detailed financial models
- Provide assistance to the Investment Banking team in the execution of their daily tasks
- Deliver a final presentation to leaders within Investment Banking

Who We’re Looking For:
- You are a penultimate year university student graduating in summer 2027
- We welcome applications from any degree discipline
- You are available for a 10-week internship from June to end of August 2026
- You have a clearly defined interest in Investment Banking and M&A, particularly in the Upstream Energy and Metals & Mining sectors
- You have strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory
- You have an understanding of valuation modelling (Discounted Cash Flow Analysis)
- You have experience working with Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment
- You possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work
- You have excellent attention to detail and quick to adapt to new situations
- You are eligible to work in the United Kingdom
