Staff Software Engineer, Android

Misión:

Leads and oversees the Staff Software Engineering Mobile chapter at Scotiabank Peru, ensuring strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. The role provides technical leadership for mobile application development with strong expertise in Android, React Native and modern mobile engineering practices.

¿Qué esperamos de ti?

•Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

•Master’s degree in computer science or a related field desirable. Typically, 10 years of industry experience or more.

•Experience with iOS, Android and React Native for production-grade mobile applications is required, including migration and implementation from native mobile platforms to React Native, building reusable components, integrating native modules, managing mobile performance, handling platform-specific differences, and applying secure coding and automated testing practices across the mobile development lifecycle.

•Intermediate English level

¿A qué retos te enfrentarás?

• Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
• Conceptualize and design customer-centric software, developing key technical capabilities while optimizing value delivery, with a keen sense of software craftsmanship and customer experience. Go deep in software modeling, patterns, share and reuse.
• Design and develop mobile software components and services that leverage and extend digital capabilities, provide world-class digital experiences, and support scalable mobile delivery across platforms.
• Develop high quality, maintainable and evolvable software, caring for key software metrics and assuring proper testability and testing coverage.
• Follow, develop and promote secure coding practices, being aware of potential security vulnerabilities and guarding from them.
• Take operational ownership for the software you build and support. Work with multidisciplinary teams to solve major incidents, improve SLOs and guarantee a world-class customer experience. Note this may require working outside office hours on occasion.
• Leader in the mobile software development lifecycle, taking ownership for initiatives and technical decisions at a program level, while promoting engineering excellence, reuse, maintainability and secure delivery across mobile platforms.
• Mentor and actively provide coaching to other members in your program.
• Build mobile applications, user experiences and reusable components taking part in the development of next generation digital platforms. Apply strong knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript, native mobile integrations, Kotlin, Android SDK Google Services, Jetpack Compose, Gradle, performance optimization, mobile security, automated testing and app store delivery practices, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
