Purpose
Leads and oversees Engineering & Architecture for Scotiabank Group in Peru, including Scotiabank, for all business lines. Ensures business and technical strategies, plans and initiatives are defined, executed, delivered, and operate correctly, to achieve exponential growth in digital banking metrics; feed into the global technology strategy; and are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Accountabilities
•Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
•Leads and manages the software engineering teams and practices responsible for the engineering team that delivers and supports Digital Channels, Digital Products and Digital Capabilities programs, encompassing API Engineering, Core Banking Engineering, iOS Engineering, Android Engineering, Web Engineering, Data & Machine Learning Engineering, QA Engineering and DevOps Engineering.
•Includes in its scope all the Business Line in Scotiabank Peru, Crediscotia and the PLIN Payments Ecosystem, as well as .COM, Web Banking, Mobile Baking, and ATM channels.
•Enables the success of the team through establishing a technical vision, coaching, mentorship and problem solving.
•Owns the Digital Assets and Capabilities program, which builds the platforms and capabilities required by the Channels and Products programs to achieve digital adoption, transaction migration and digital sales metrics, and directly accounts for a major part of Customer Pulse and Availability metrics, as well as Risk, Fraud and Security controls. Leads the Technical Product Managers managing the roadmap, prioritization, delivery and impact of the Digital Identity, API Platforms, Data Platforms, Business APIs, and Digital Origination squads and initiatives. Sets the vision for the program and aligns value delivery with Channels and Products directors, as well as local and global stakeholders.
•Develops strategic and partner relationships with key stakeholders at a peer level, including local, regional and global IT&S, Operations, Analytics and Digital leads, at VP and SVP levels. Aligns business and technology strategy with key senior management stakeholders, including Country CEO.
•Leads active identification and management of IT Risks in Digital Peru, including analysis, assessment, design and implementation of risk controls, aligned with control functions and global Digital IT Risk, and with regulation, policies, practices and risk appetite of Scotiabank. Owns Critical Information Assets in the Enterprise Portfolio as IT VP.
•Lead Security Engineering for Digital Peru, from a maker function, defining and executing the cybersecurity strategy in digital banking jointly with IS&C, with focus in threat modeling, secure coding, and a risk-centric culture.
•Leads Site Reliability Engineering practice in Digital Peru and accelerates it across Peru Technology teams, continuously measuring, managing and improving reliability, availability and latency, with focus in improving the customer experience, including in scope services and components owned by Digital Peru, local and global IT&S and vendors.
•Accountable for promptly recovering from incidents and major incidents, and fixing problems, affecting digital banking customers, caused by services and components owned by Digital Peru, local and global IT&S and vendors. Owns the 3rd level support capability.
•Leads DevOps and Quality Assurance engineering practices in Digital Peru and accelerates it across Peru Technology teams, with focus in continuous value delivery, automation, lean operation and intrinsic quality. Leads the implementation of technologies that support the Software Delivery and Operation Lifecycle for Digital Peru and dependencies including development, configuration, validation, deployment, operation, monitoring, controlling, recovering and evolving technology solutions.
•Leads the DF Architecture Portfolio and Software Architecture team in Digital Peru and Co-leads the portfolio at a Country level, being a core member in the PAC Architecture Council, Peru Architecture Review Board and Global Digital Architecture Review Board.

•Ensure that technology is accessible and equipped with up-to-date software by maintaining an accurate and current inventory of software systems and related resources.
•Drive the evolution of solution integration processes, enabling continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines to reduce time to market, effort, and costs while ensuring information quality and security. Proper IT service management practices must be considered at all times to guarantee the availability, resilience, and predictability of IT services.
•Apply industry technical expertise to deliver solutions that improve business outcomes and/or reduce risk in the integration of applications across multiple product systems and delivery channels.
•Leads the formation of Data and Machine Learning capabilities in Digital Peru to deliver relevant, inclusive and trustworthy customer experiences, and is a technology enabler for Digital Analytics campaign optimization and decision making. Accelerates the formation of relevant capabilities in Peru and in Global Digital banking.Lead in Digital Peru the share and reuse of Digital Assets locally and globally. Leads the creation and evolution of key global assets, including but not limited to Digital Identity, Mobile Platforms, and Payment Technologies (PLIN).Ensure the relationship with the leaders of the information technology team allows for the timely implementation of all digital projects.
•Will act as a brand ambassador - active in the startup and fintech software community as a participant, speaker and thought leader.Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
•Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.
Experience:
•Educational requirements: Computer and systems engineer, or related field. Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
•Work experience: +10 years in financial institutions and IT Industries with advanced knowledge about technology and digital engineering
•Functional competencies:
•Knowledge of APIs, DevOps, Cybersecurity, as well as online, mobile and wearable elements and operating environments (models; technologies; KPI’s/metrics), preferably in a retail sales and service setting.
•Knowledge of emerging digital trends and best practices in other verticals.
•Thorough knowledge of the Bank’s application systems and their relationship within the Bank.
•Thorough knowledge of banking retail products and services, including operating procedures and policies.
•A demonstrated track record of delivering sustainable business results.
•Languages: Fluency in English and Spanish
